I want one. How are these cars on a day to day basis?

The one with the CA18DET, not KA24DE.

Props' to VtecKiller.
vtecKiller
all depends on how the maintenance was done

my car did break down on my several times, from fuel pump to blown head gasket
so yeah

just keep in mind, it is a 20 year old car
Jinata
Yours is the KA24?
Rickdaddy
I'll never own a Nissan. Ever.

Only because I hate working on them.
Jinata
I hate working on FWD cars, everything you need to get to is just hard to get a spanner on.

WTF!

FWD is by far the easiest $hit you can work on.

I would rather work on 300zx's than any honda. probably cause I spent most of my time on my past z cars

Meh, I like the S13s, I can't stand those flip up headlights though, I'd switch over to S13 Silvia front if I ever owned another one. That one in the picture didn't come with a CA18DET and I bet it still has the KA24 in it. The KA24E is worthless, but the KA24DE isn't all that bad of an engine. I've seen KA24DETs pushing upwards of 450hp which isn't too bad for a measly truck engine. I'd prefer the SR20DET over the CA18DET though because the SR20 is lighter (all aluminum as opposed to CA18DET's dinosaur cast iron bottom end), has more displacement, and is an all around better motor, but if the CA18DET is what floats your boat, then go for it. Parts are kind of hard to find for CA18 in camparison with the SR20, but the CA18DET is much easier to work on since it has a timing belt instead of a chain.

What I hate about S13s is.... dashboards are almost always cracked, seats suck, rear diff is crap, most of them have shit bodies because they were almost all owned by females at some point in their history, and the majority of people who own them are ricers and wannabe drifters.

LIES! Getting to the pulleys is annoying, you have to jack up the car and take off the wheel. Removing/Inserting chain tensioner on the SR20 I worked on was damn near impossible. Then again I supposed seeing past those 2 problem they are not too bad to work on...

coming from a FWD car, it's not easy. For example, changing the clutch is a b!tch. If you think changing it on a 240sx is easy, then changing a clutch on an FWD car would be a breeze for you.
Mr Laocean
AWww $hit, changing the clutch to a stage 8 so my 70lbs of tq can grab hella haRdd daWwg

These other guys come from the Honda community, where the cars are easier to work on than anything else on the planet. I can do a B-Series Civic swap in under two hours, same with a D/B-Series head gasket swap. I doubt you could do an SR head swap w/new timing chain in under four hours.

yeah your right, changing the clutch without taking the whole drivetrain out, or a lift is gonna be a b!tch...........

taking out the coil packs is easier than it looks. only thing you need to change the plug is a longer extension since theyre deep down there

Took me days to do this.

Any reason why you'd go with the CA engine rather than the SR ?

CAs are quite old and parts will probably be hard to source compared to an SR.

If I had a 240sx, I'd personally just go ka-t.

I've had a bad experience with an SR, and the CA18 is easier on the insurance. I'm intrigued by the "RB" like design to the CA. Cast iron block, etc.

@Boost: LSX?
