My neighbor and her kids were watching an animated DVD movie on their TV. I recognized the background music as Beethoven's 6th symphony, the Pastorale and I mentioned that fact to the mother. She looked puzzled. I inquired further and discovered that she had never heard of the name Beethoven. Later I asked my wife if she knew who Beethoven was and she replied "a dog?". Then she guessed "he was a scientist?"

Is it just the schools here or have the schools everywhere declined in quality of education? Kids spend a lot of hours in school. What are they learning? (besides how to put a condom on a cucumber)
