The truth reveals lolz! This is to my khmer people lolz, Takeo province was once the main city of Nokor Phnom, Funan. "Ta" means old and keo means "crystal" or "glass", thus means "old glass." While O Keo, which was dubbed by the Vietnamese as Oc Eo was once the main port of Nokor Phnom. "O" is a khmer word meaning "creek" or "canal" and keo means " Glass" or "Crystal". The name O Keo can be called the "crystal canal" or the "glass canal" as in the appearance of the water reflection. So far, i have not come across any historian explaining the origin of the corrupted word "Oc Eo"! Thankx to my grandpa and grandma they said that O keo means "Sea glass"! The two cities contain alot of potteries that are hidden under ground which makes sense as to why they are called Keo! I hope the historians look deeper into this O keo province and try to find out the truth behind this. The name Chenla which is a chinese word derived from the khmer word Chen-leu which means upper land. Funan was also derived from the old khmer word "Bnam" which means mountain.
