I'm bored but I've always wondered- if you could bear with me a moment.... In comparing the different ideal standards of beauty cross-culturally, I was wondering what is considered the "ideal beautiful woman (women if more than one)"? This includes facial and physical such as desired height, feet/hand size etc (those are just examples they may or may not mean anything). For instance if I'm not wrong I think Chinese have a thing for extreme heights (short or supermodel tall), Koreans prefer in between, Japanese really like their azz on girls etc. lol

If they do, how do they differ from its Asian neighbors such as China, Korea and Vietnam? How are they similar? Are they the same??? Do you have a pic you can post to exemplify like someone who's considered a "goddess" (eg Rie Miyazawa?). Thnx.

i think 中森明菜 represents well the cuteness of japanese girls (in her young days 19 - 25) but she started to look very different ever since she reached her 26 or 28 her music are great too

according to my grandparents, different parts of Japan haave different standards of beauty because of the 3 different ethnic group: Ryukyuan, Yamato, and Ainu.

Like in southern Japan-Kyushu and the Ryukyu Island (where the Ryukyuans and dark skinned Yamato's are the main ethnicitys), dark skin, big chest, full lips, and big eyes are considered beautiful.

But in the rest of Japan (Yamato and Ainu are the main ethnicitys), thin, pale skinned, small lips, are considered beautiful.

I thought Rie Miyazawa was gorgeous.

Asians who look "white" or mixed are all the rage in Asia right now, sharp nose, big eyes, oval face shape, white skin and skinnnnnny.

wow she (Miyazawa) has gotten really skinny, what happened?

white people are not skinny, have "sharp" noses(they have larger noses), or oval faces for the most part. they do have bigger eyes. the 'white' skin preferred is porcelain, that of asian royalty.

just as most western supermodels have 'ethnic' features such as catty eyes, skinny, or ambiguous exotic features.

However, the japanese does not consider double tooth bad

Growing in popularity, Aragaki Yui has a classic Japanese look.


There are a lot more pretty faces but I picked the ones I thought represented the Japanese Ideal - I'm sure others may disagree.

Personally , apart from the last two, the rest are not my favorites.
