memorial address and M are my alltime favourites from ayumi
and she actually has a strong, unique voice (minus her really early days...ahem)
she defies convention and isn't cliche like all those other artists
not to mention she writes her own lyrics and composes most of her songs
and yeah, she can't dance. why? because that's not her talent, she's not an rnb artist like namie or a pop artist like boa
she has a wide range of music genres and doesn't specialise in dancing like the others do..in fact, she doesn't do special training for dancing like the others
she's not into those gay and lame dance routines (though she has danced before)...that's for teenybopper pop sh*t
she focuses more on emotion and composing, THAT'S her style
but yes, i agree greatful days is sh*t
not so much into those gay, pop tunes...though most of her songs are exceptionally good
and she can do rock well too...unlike boa, who thinks 'rock with you' is a rock song....ahem..lame
namie to me is pretty average...her voice is alright sounding but i don't think she can reach notes like ayumi can (ayumi can do low notes quite well too) and the voice itself isn't very strong...but she's decent and has likeable music that isn't too lame or childish
utada has a smooth voice that is quite nice but isn't very strong...she sounds breathless at times and she can't reach high notes. instead, she often alternated to whispering those 'high' notes and i don't really think that's much talent, in terms of singing anyway
but she does compose doesn't she? so i give her credit for that since she composes nice songs, which is quite a talent
mika...ehh...she's ok
koda kumi has a rather strong voice but her songs are only average
gackt has good music, i'm into that rock sh*t...pretty good

2 err...i don't think you listen to much ayumi songs then because most of them are upbeat or rock-ish
have you tried memorial address? it starts like a ballad, then becomes really rock
M is sort of ballad-rock
because of you is rock
ourselves is rnb-ish/pop
GAME is rock
evolution is pop/rock
july 1st is definately upbeat for one
surreal? not slow
...and the list goes on
try those, they're good...but unless you're used to listening to overrated kidstuff like boa, you may not be used to well-written type music (sorry for the criticism)

I could be obsessed with ayumi haha though i respect your opinions, i just wanted to point out some 'errors'
yeah i've heard her voice crack before but for the most part, it's good and strong....which i can't say about too many artists (namie for e.g.)..i thought dome tour, stadium tour and arena 2003-04 (arena 2002 i must admit wasn't good) were particularly good for e.g. i'm sure those notes namie couldnt even hit
but yeah, like i said, dancing isn't her style
it's just like asking gackt to dance...
but obviously, your music taste is catered more towards rnb/pop so you expect dance routines
the problem is, you've got to know the difference between whether dancing suits with certain music genres or not

I agree, Ayu has her own unique style like none other, i hav a favourite, i dont' know his name tho, kinda annoying if u ask me. Here's my list, in "favourite first" order:
1. Voice actor of anime character Fujiwarano Sai
2. Ayumi Hamasaki
3. Gackt
4. Takanori Nishikawa (T.M. Revolution)
5. Move (altho it's a group)
6. Namie Amuro
7. Utada Hikaru
8. Takashi Sorimachi (I dunno if i want him here but he's ok i guess, i jus like "poison")
9. Miwako Okuda (Not bad, deserve's her place tho at least 4 the GTO- Shizuku song lol)
I got my own taste, most people say i hav a weird taste of EVERYTHING including myself, doesn't bother me tho, nobody here likes T.M Revolution?! lol

Did you notice that in this years tour, the notes she sang were signifigantly lower than on CD? I usually can't sing that high in as strong of a tone when I listen to her cds, but I had no trouble like that in the tour dvd. And Gackt danced fine for Papa lapped a pap lopped, oasis, and Luna. He can't dance naturally but he works hard as hell and it turns out to be something decent, if you want to know how he naturally dances...I recommed the sixth day version that he did during febuary this year.

yeahhs i respect ur opinions as wells, but im jus saying, and giving my opinions on ayumi. im not saying she sux, but as i began to listen to her music more, she got kinda annoying, and u jus begin to think that she sux. referring to the "...notes namie couldnt even hit..."thas actually not true. its jus her style of singing, and maybe she isnt the high pitch voice type. seriously, if u couldnt sing high pitch levels, would u be trying to sing like that on stage??
