Please add a reply to submit your artist. I'll only accept one submission for each Asian country (except if your country consists of multiple languages/ethnicities). The song(s) must be in the native language (a few English words are fine). I'll update this post to reflect any new submissions. Please, no trolling! Just showcasing the Asian rock music scene, since I'm curious to see what other Asian countries are listening to. Now let's get started.

I don't listen to much Filipino rock, but I came across this song and I thought it was good:

Silent Sanctuary- Ikaw Lamang

There are probably better songs, so I wouldnt want to submit that one yet. I think another poster will come along who knows more about Filipino rock.

I don't like rock, certainly don't listen to rock. It hurts my ears. But I know many good Viet pop songs. I can only submit them if you change the title because I don't think they fit in the "rock" category.

hmmm I'll just add it anyway. I'll replace it when someone submits a different Filipino rock song.

I guess that Vietnamese language is not made for Rock music. More like Teen-Pop a la Chinese pop style.

Who's more popular in Thailand? Potato or Nologo? Do the Thai members in here prefer Potato or Nologo to represent Thai rock?

Anyway, I like that the newer generation of Thai rockers can actually sing, whereas many of the original Thai rockers (i.e. from the 80's/90's) had a bad habit of singing out of tune. Thai rock production has come a long way and I think it now sounds as good as what we've got here in the U.S....so good job, Thailand!

Comparing the bad vocals in classic Thai rock to the polished vocals in modern Thai rock is a good example to demonstrate the importance of having solid vocal production.

Old Thai rock:

Modern Thai rock:

^It almost sounds like a different language! Huge improvement!

i think potato's more popular but if they want to change it i dont mind
nologo's music video for glua is #3 most viewed on imeem though

http://www.imeem.com/video/played/

and ive noticed with the new thai generation music is they pronounce their words really differently now
its like they're trying to make it sound japanese/chinese or something
for example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1QVTTComlM
those two girls singing at 2:10 makes me want to pull my hair out

haha about the japanese sounding thing i was only referring it to 2:10 where the two girls made their voice all cutesy
maybe its just me

agh that song LOL her voice isnt great..
but the song has the potential to be good
if it was sung with a different singer

haha I know. She only sounded good during the chorus, but other than that her voice didn't sound all that great in the song. Like I said, I think the notes were too low for her voice. I would have fixed her bad vocals during the mixing stage of the song production.

Here's a better Lao singer with a great voice:

I think that Potato is more popular now, but Nologo was like the icon of rock in the 90s. Yeah I don't like the oldies, too. I can't stand Carabao and all the crap they made years ago. If you like newer Thai rock I recommend you Big @$$ (Len Kong Soong), Bodyslam (Ok Huk) and Big @$$ (Yang Noi / Hormones OST).

The song called Waan you posted reminds me of my last trip to Thailand. icon_smile.gif

Is Cells still popular in Thailand? I believe they're the first Lao rock band to have garnered loyal fans in neighboring Thailand. But of course Cells is still hugely popular in their home country.

I don't know if there still that popular cause I don't hear much about them anymore, but some bands in pubs play their songs.
