I found this slideshow. I thought it was interesting how European most of the stars look. We think our stars look white now, well not really in comparison. Things have really changed.

I credit the internet's flow of information for waking people up to the misrepresentation of the local population and to the erroneous Colonial mentality.

I don't see why it should be called the golden age of cinema when it didn't progress any new ideas except to promote the idea that we should all worship other races except our own.

very true. but juancho guttierez, reycard singers, and eddie del mar are austronesian malay looking. the rest are definitely europoid/mongoloid mix. susan roces is definitely a fair skin malay while gloria romero is straight up hapa. she actually looks the least filipino of them all.

this is a great vid. ^_^

That's because during that time, the golden age of Philippine cinema was Pre World War 2.
And the Criollos (PURE WHITES) in the Philippines still compromised a large percentage of the population.

But World War 2 saw the massacre of the White-Filipinos under the racist and Pan-Asia obsessed Japanese. Had the Japanese not massacred the criollo population of the Philippines there would be far more people with glorious Aryan blood living here.

But alas it was not meant to be. Now the few remaining criollos that have survived the war have descended into mongrelhood or have left for Australia or America. All we have left are filthy indios, self hating mestizos and pseudo-wanabes who out-rightly and rabidly deny the graces of mother Espana.

It was Espana who spread taste and civilization to the warlike Filipinos!

If it weren't for the Spanish who made the Filipina pretty with superior European and Latino genes and Christianized and Civilized the Filipino plus uniting his wayward states he would still be a dirty and blood soaked idiot. Furthermore the Philippines wouldn't have existed. And without unity under Spain. The Philippines would be fragmented and plagued by conflict amongst the Jihadists of the Southern Sultanates of Sulu, Brunei and Maguindanao, the Pathetic Cow Worshipers (Hindus) of the Butuan and Cebu Rajahnates, littered by barbarian tribal peoples and economically exploited by the Chinese.

And since the beautiful but now dead Caucasian Filipino who clamored for more Whites in the Philippine movie industry have been virtually massacred by the Japanese. All we have now are the current filthy and ugly brown people who dominate the industry, there are a few mestizos and cute mestizo boys now and then but no one can ever replace the glorious Filipino-Criollo.

I think she's annoying sometimes.
But it took me a while to realize that I should have embraced my Hispanic side along time ago.
Instead of being rabidly self hating, anti-Spanish and pro-indigenous.

I'm soo gonna marry a pure Aryan and force him to immigrate to La Republic Filipina. laugh.gif
If only to restore the Filipino-Criollo

Filipinos aren't Asian (By stereotypical terms) neither are we Hispanic nor even Malay.
Were mixed but we have more in common & better relations with the other mixed Asians of Malaysia and Singapore rather than the mono racial Japanese for example.

Personally I identify more with being "Southeast Asian" rather than "Asian".

I used to watch these actors on telly-- they used to show these Filipino movies in the afternoons. Mostly historical films, too & very well made -- & good actors. Goria romero seems to be the only real survivor from that bunch still acting?
I've seen all of them in these movies, & no not all of them were mestizo/a.. that's just from the pics.. the lighting.. but granded they all had glamour.

that' why I was bolloxed when I saw these pinoy films on my asian ch-- crikey!!! that's acting????/ & such poor productions..

yeah like tonight-- finally I saw THE FLOCK the Hollywood debut film of Andrew Lau-- the director of Infernal Affairs. I wondered what happened to this film-- with Richard Gere & Clare Danes. Lau did a great job directing, better than his HK films as I've seen almost all of them-- but this film didn't get a cinema release-- Now, I know why-- it's the subject. & it rather droned on-- but the cinematography was great. He's back in HK now-- I've seen his recent ones.

Are you a professional film critique? It must have felt so nice to be one of the privileged few able to watch that film.

I saw this Tagalog horror Movie "T2" by ABS-CBN. Just yesterday. And damn it was one of better ones!
It's certainly better than the Japanese or Korean horror films I've watched.

There might be hope for the Philippine movie industry, after all. laugh.gif

Yes your right about your chronology of Indian culture and howit spread to Southeast Asia. And also on Islam. It reached the Philippines quite late and only when India and Indonesia was Islamized. The Philippines was the Easternmost frontier of Islam while Spain was the Westernmost. It's so ironic how Islam greatly influenced Spanish and Philippine civilization yet were rabidly anti-islam. embarassedlaugh.gif
alexandra
true that-- but India came under Islamic rule in the 14th century with the advent of the Mughuls-- Islam only came to Indonesia much later-- so one say-- around the 15th century thereabouts. Mughuls brought India their GOLDEN AGE. what a great culture & some of their inventions-- like zero.. they have the hugest sundial, & the irrigation techniques they've invented.

spain felt that way bec of the Moors & the castillians who were never ruled by them booted them out-- it's with the castillians ruling spain & under ferdinand spain became staunchly catholic & thus, began their empire building reaching up to the Netherlands & beyond.

it's all very interesting.

besides I can cook Indian- I learnt that In england.
alexandra

almost forgot to add this-- as this you tube showed some of the Salvador clan.. there's NEILE ADAMS nee' Salvador-- she was the first wife of Steve Mc Queen.. the mother of his kids. And No, it wasn't reallY Lea Salonga as the first Filipnia to hit Broadway but Neile.. as she appeared in the 50's same era as France Nguyen in musicals-- FLOWER DRUM SONG or south Pacific.. I forget . that's how McQueen first saw here-- he went crazy for her gamine looks & legs.

yeah, Adams returned to Manila only once when McQueen was doing the Sand Pebbles.. on location where??? forget.

looks interesting-- but where does find the dvd or is it released???

the story line looks like a take off of INDO-CHINE about Vietnam with Catherine Deneuve & Vincent Perez( he's Swiss with spanish-french mix) a very famous film.

for all the yrs I check out foreign film sections at huge & specialty shops here - I've never come across Phil movies-- & by now, I've seen just about every Asian films being sold at t hese stores. at least a few.

I have no idea... and I'm not 100% sure that I even want to watch more than 3 hours of Film.. like some Russian movies.
Anyway, the Golden Age of Filipino Cinema had a gory ending:

you're talking to a film freak which started in Manila.. laugh.gif when we were bored we'd go for like 5 films in a day-- & have a great lunch in between.

i' watch Russian films-- the best version of rasputin's bio I've ever seen was russian. the rest western versions-- a yawn.
I haven't seen that one from shops I go to-- I'll check next I visit Vancouver--as they sell Phil films at t he Asian market there. I bought Imelda's bio doc instead- to show my aunt & mother.. Berniece is in it-- she really hasn't change much, either.

there's nothing gorier than Korean or japanese films I find-- geez! they sure pour all that fake blood with abandon. in glorious hacking scenes. worse than Hk films- though they're getting there too.

Australoid, Papuan, Negrito, Paleo-Malay...lived before time of colony

later

Southern Chinese, Anglo-American, Afro-American, Spaniard (south European)

ay.. this maybe off topic for this thread-- but we were discussing this in other threads..

FINALLY received my order(quick from Amazon) of STORY OF INDIA.. glad I got it-- as it's so exciting..we argued & debated how the Silk Road & it's maritime routes came about??? THERE'S A WHOLE EPISODE ABOUT IT.. in minute detail-- what's more it showed all the ports.
& NO! the phil was not included in ancient times.. just like I thought-- it was only included after the Spanish colonised.Phil was so far these routes as they did it in BC CE times. you will see it here as they showed exactly all the ports of call from southern India to Arabia & beyond as they traded with Romans. How India & China joined the Silk Road -east to west..by land.. all in living colour..

it explains exactly how Islam came to so east Asia-- & the influences of Hinduism.. to indonesia mainly-- spreading from here.. again. this will show without a shadow of a doubt-- how minor it was in those islands.. oh yes.. those 'gold' staues you've been posting?? this will show-- where those came from.. it's all here.. HOT DAMN-- SO exciting!!! saying it's a rich culture is even an understatement. Their influence in civilization goes very deep, far & wide.. even subliminal.

I've always wanted to learn about India-- this Michael Wood series is a wonderful start.. he's so good as he makes things simple. Another one I adore is Simon Schuma.. anything he does is wonderful. The best one on the history of Britannia.

no!!! I'm self-employed.

this AM-- around 3-- I was about to go to bed when History cable-- had a doc on the ancient Mayans.. geez!! too bad I was sleepy- as it was so interesting.. & they were an advanced civilization, too. all that culture they left behind-- a lot of record.

funny, how the ancients- Egyptians, Mayans, Incans, Chinese ,Indians,etc-- though they haven't met-- they all had similar beliefs.. & were in tune to the same wavelength of ideas & discovery.. it's what's called 'synchronicity. interesting how that works.. they were in tune to what's called 'UNIVERSAL CONCIOUSNESS..
alexandra
like right now-- I'm doing my housework & have on this India documentary-- repeating this spice route chapter-- Woods is in Kerala-- where the spice trade started as these ancient inhabitants with the Arabs & romans- bartered- the Arabs showed the natives how to build ships-- & to this day, they are still making them exactly as they were taught without any drawing or measurements--no nails, either(nails haven't been invented)-- just by 'eye'.. extraordinary. these ships look like ones from film Ben_hur.. lol

see what I mean by having 'primal calling'..??? this is another good example of it.
