Is it possible to design a computer that talk to you. There are at least three distince ways it possiblely could happen.

1) The "computer" is actual intelligence developing itself over a life time of at least a thousand or so years
2) The "computer" have a ghost access device
3) The computer is an artifical intelligence with memory bank

The study of these open access to new sensor device and advisory option. Of course it could be bad or good depending on external factor. So, what do you guys think of the robot Asumo currently under development by Honda Corporation.

I think it's a neat publicity project, with possible technology spin offs. But having the AI to do any kind of useful house work is very, very far away.

I'm sad Sony canceled its Aibo robot dog . I wanted to get one for my wife but it's going for like $5000 on ebay now. icon_sad.gif

What are you a ninja or something. Get real.

What publicity stunt. Travelling dream is a form of contact, but probabily not first contact. It need to be clear, without a doubt and unrelated to the spychological factors and everyday experience. It is an indicator when there are sounds, touches and the likes. It is interesting but probabily you're right, it cost alot. Or so it seem.

I firmly believe AI is possible, but we don't have the technology yet. The human brain is just a vastly complicated nebula of synapses and electrical charges - a kind of computer composed of cells instead of silicon - but I believe it is possible to emulate the brain's activity on an advanced enough computer (I don't believe in souls or any of that). There are already programs capable of basic 'learning'. It's just a matter of time before AI becomes advanced enough to be considered truly 'intelligent'.

As for Asimo, it's cool, but not equipped with any kind of AI as far as I know...

To answer your question it is Possible for a computer to "talk" to you and hold a decent conversation, There's already a few programs out there that have fooled people that they were not talking to a person but a computer. But aren't all its responses programed inside its memory, so you are still talking to a computer regardless. It still kinda feels empty tho..

Perhaps you're correct, as yet on a argeement in the definition of a soul.

To add: By definition a Soul lives on after death (to those who believe in it or not) but it differs from Spirit as it dies with you and everyone has (religious or atheist).

For a Machine to posses an artificial human mind is a machine that will also inherit a spirit (by Descartes definition a spirit is a person's mind). icon_smile.gif
