you know the adage.. it takes one to know one??? well, that's what happens with american women with Am men.. they know your bull..& they are demanding..

whilst Filipina women don't.. you're a novelty & think you're cute.. & put up with your bs.. that's why.. icon_wink.gif

We're still a patriarchal society where homosexuality and metrosexuality is still looked down on. In the house, the man usually gets the last say and Filipino women often do work at home so it's basically a very traditional setting. icon_smile.gif

There is a reason why Filipino men call their wives words like "Kumander" or the like....

I accept that it's true, but I still believe we are in a patriarchal society, although not as much as other countries. We are actually a very gender-equal nation.

I know quite a few american men that have married pinays.
they all seem quite happy with their choice.
Yes they had to do some research to help them understand pinays
because they are not at all like an american woman.

I know 1 american man that told me that his ex wife (an american woman)
did nothing but put him down. His new wife a pinay does everything she can to help him & build him up.
with his ex wife he was working a job & it looked like he would never be able to advance.
he has been married to is new wife for 5 years & in that time he has had 2 promotions.
If you have a good woman to back you up your much more apt to have a positive attitude.
people started to notice that he was not the same person that he had once been.

the problem with many american woman is that they don't like men & they think they are so much smarter than men.
I have worked with some ladies like this over the years & i just try to avoid them
after all why would i want to interact with a man hater that thinks all men are stupid?
don't get me wrong they are not all like this but too many are.

I spoke with an american man who had been in the united states navy
he & 5 of his friend married ladies from the philippines.
this was more than 10 years ago & he said that all the his friends marriages were still intact
the devoice rate in the united states is 50%
so how could it be that all these american men could still be married?
i would say because there were no american ladies involved in the marriages

I intend to visit my lady soon who is from the province but is now working in manila as a nurse.

she is from Romblon
her farther is a fisherman & employs a crew of 5 on his boat
her mother has a small store selling vegtables
the members of her family from what i have gathered are all good Christians
this lady has never asked me for 1 peso unlike others that i have chatted with in the past
i have also never caught her in a lie.

why Filipino?
they have the best reputation in the usa for being excellent wives for kanos
i have done a lot of research on the subject & the infomation that i keep getting from many sources is that pinays are the best wives you can get.
not to say that it's not possible to find a bad one once in a while.
but i think that most of them want a better life & are willing to do what ever it takes to make the marriage work
most people in foreign country's think that the people in the usa are all rich & the streets are paved with gold.
BULL SH*t
it you knew what i cost for food , for rent, for clothes, for everything you wouldn't think that most americans are rich
most of the people that i know are paying $1200 a month for their house that's about 50,000 pesos Ouch icon_redface.gif
i am paying less that 1/2 of that because i am cheep & i purchased an old house that needed a lot of repairs.
there are more opportunities here if you want to work hard.
if you don't want to work hard then you will be poor here too.

thanks for the onfo.
yes your rite , many americans are in for some hard times.
they have become fat & lazy.
i see it all the time at work , one credit card after another.
why would you use a credit card to buy a pizza?
if you have little or no money you need to go home & eat.

I think an important question should not be left out:
given the society is not patriarchal in its bigger parts, what does a filipino man know and do, that others can learn from him, to be respected by their pinoy brides, so these are happy as well and not just bend to the situation for the sake of a better material life, if they agree at all, because a OFW with a stable job already has much less pressure to agree, if she is not convinced about the personality & qualities of the guy.
plus how do men keep a position and not be disrespected and turned down for "weakness" when they are just cooperative but still have to learn a lot.

I actually see an opportunity of a learning process, to learn the positive and useful aspects of the gender-equal culture that has matriarchal past.

but never forget the children. at young age they don't get the complexities, and their mothers probably are not the analytical kind who can teach them 100% of their culture that they are living and thinking by "instinct".
boys and girls might have quite different problems.
a daughter may not want to be that kind of egotist "american" woman like is portrayed above, but then she may lack the knowledge how to check her boyfriend if he is willing to be loyal and fulfill his duties. he might pretend something she can't look through, when she has not learned the whole picture that she only can get when living in mom's home country.
for example. jewish people have much of their culture and morals written in the talmud, so the diaspora children can use this resource. not all do it, but still it is highly official.

some counseling and sociocultural science is going on already, but I haven't heard of a general way to organize the education. often just focused on the folklore and festivals, and some dancing, singing and acting workshops.
a "goy" can study the talmud and understand and then choose what he wants to do and what he can gain from.
point is, he needs not pay for counseling. he can listen to the rabbi because of the tight relation between society and religion. (even many jewish atheists are interested in understanding it all at least from the cultural side)
but organized catholic religion in fact seems not so fond of the original ancient skills, traits and abilities of matriarchic cultures. sending the children to father jose does not guarantee they learn enough about the culture.
or please, correct me...
