No Jasmine, hindi ka Pinoy

TALK SHOW
Fundy Soriano
People's Tonight

"Nag-enjoy ba kayo?" simula niya. "Masaya ako na nandito kayo. This is like my second home next to Hawaii because my parents are from Cavite. Pinoy na Pinoy ako. This homecoming made me more proud of my Filipino heritage," litanya niya.

We beg to disagree, Miss American girl Jasmine.

hahaha suxs to be her, but at least she gots more talent than them lip syncing fools. plus i don't get why their making a fuss about her citizenship when there are other celebrities in there who gots US citizenship also
flipcombatmedic
i agree.

You agree to the article, I think Jasmine does deserve this critism though. Since she is getting way to much publicity in the Philippines, even though she is an Hawaiian wannabe.
flipcombatmedic
i agree to what shini is saying. it should be about talent and not race and not even that upbringing.

did she really say that she was not filipino? if so then she deserve the criticism but just cuz you lived in somewhere else don't make you not filipino, unless you dispise the culture and don't know crap about it.

She hid the fact that she was filipino. She said she was Spanish/chinese/filipino/and Hawaiian. embarassedlaugh.gif
flipcombatmedic
strictly no offense, i know how you feel about the instances made by fil in HI, but you can't blame her or just her. many filipinos today still believe they are spanish, though they're not and she grew up in hawaii and along with others filipino, chinese, japanese and white and others "kamaaina" childern of the land in hawaii meanning local born, that call herself hawaiian. that's ethnicity v. ethinic identity and for those who grew up other than their "native" land it's common psychologically.

and other is i don't really think that one have to show their "racial" and ethnicity just to show their pride. i mean there were other contestants and they don't go oww i'm irish let me dance river dancing. it's a new us, we are different we don't have to make it so much different between us just we have different races. you don't have to go filipino filipoino all over just cuz you filipino since it's not like a show for reppin you cult it's a competition of talent.
Fil-Am
All Im saying is that she was ashamed to say that she was part filipino. And someone like tha doesn't deserve the publicity she is getting in the Philippines. I mean she really isn't that good of an singer to begin with. The only reason why she is famous there is because she all of an sudden proclaimed that she was proud to be filipina. I hope she doesn't overshadow local star filipina singers who are more talented then Jasmine.
flipcombatmedic
well that might be true, but i don't think one should blame it racially other than the fact taht she has more media coverage n the past.
Ek-ek
Even if there were some vacant seats in Araneta Coliseum ,Some of them were company sponsored .
k3n5i
whoa i think the writer was being too mean to jasmine.... i mean hey she did some bad things (well not bad as mean things but like things ppl dont agree with) and all and yeah i know i saw it when she said shes spanish/chinese/filipino, but hey shes still human and as we all know there is no pefect person. and i think she doesnt deserve this kind of criticism... no one does....

my 75 cents embarassedlaugh.gif
Shinigami
at least she included filipino in there, i heard some filipinos in hawaii deny that their filipino and claims to be ilocanos or something
k3n5i
but she included it when she found out that her only fans left r the filipinos apart from hawaiians... before she was like spanish/chinese/filipino.... at least camille was proud hehehe on the 1st episode she mentioned about being born in manila and being a filipino and all
JMAC
hahah im not surprised at all...wow sure.gif

How about the winner of American idol?

Is she now famous?
Fil-Am
You mean Fantasia, her album is out already and so is Diana Degarmo's album.

She never mentioned she was Fiipino on American idol. Even if she didn't say that she wasn't, she still nevor mentioned it.

I'm glad she isn't getting the response that she expected in the Philippines. She only started to marketing herself as being Filipino in the Philippines once she noticed how much money she could make over there once it was evident that she wasn't realy that good. I remember watching TV Patrol with my Dad and they were blowing her up, all proud that another Filipino made it on such a grand stage only to get embarrassed when the b!tch doesn't even mention that she's filipino. I don't get it combatmedic, I know not all, but why do so many Hawaiian Filipinos deny what they are. Cool, your hawaiin... but say that your Hawaiian Filipino! I remember being at work and everyone was talking about American idol, "ooh that hawaiian girl with the flower in her hair" madgo.gif You know when white people think they're thinking of beautifull Hawaiian women they're probably realy envisioning Filipinas?!

Fuken sellouts madgo.gif

k3n5i
she did tell that she was a filipino.... first few episodes of ai when they present themselves in a video before singing, camille said tha she was born in manila, the philippines and moved to usa blah blah blah
maogmang_aki

Yeah while Jasmine was busy telling everybody that she is Hawaiian and has Hawaiian pride. embarassedlaugh.gif
flipcombatmedic
see this is like my situation. when people ask me where i'm from i say from teh state of hawaii because there's wehre i currently reside, but born and raised in manila philippines. and then all people remember, especially if you're from places like colorado where tehre's hardly any filipinos, is hawaii. and people think that it's cool to call non native hawaiian hawaiian, like you call anybody from colorado, coloradoans. and that just sticks. even though you say oh i'm not hawaiian, they'd always use it cuz you from hawaii. when i comes to trias's demise, the truth is she was raised over there, so phi might be her home but she grwe up in hawaii and when i comes to identifying closer then she'd say she's proud to be hawaiian (from hawaii, not native) like some fil americans would be like yeah reppin california and californians and the west side and $hit. and there's nothing wrong with that. you are filipino but you don't have to rep your race all the time putting it on peoples face, and push it to people's face because most of the time it's not racial, it's more cultural and in her place she rlates more to the place she grew up in hawaii cuz that's all she knows and knows best.

Yes why is that gay to say that. You know what though Lalaine who is way more popular in America then Jasmine, didn't even get an half the recognition that Jasmine got in the Pinas. Plus Lalaine was proud to say she was filipina in the Disney Channel.
The reason why Jasmine went to the Philippines was because her support and popularity in America is decreasing. In 4 years I wouldn't be suprised if she was all together forgotten. While Lalaine is supposed to be doing an movie here in America. biggthumpup.gif
