Because of the emo known as raiden? well arguably we wouldnt wanna play as a rookie snake AGAIN... then again, yeah HK did screw over the franchise. if you download and study the Guide and Encyclopedia of the metal gear series from the PSN you'll realise most of MGS1 is redundant in terms of canon and plot

yeah number 3 is actually the most played, number 4 is a little bit of a let down, i mean its more westernised and less of the suspense as you'd find in Japanese anime sagas
