Anyone ever saw this movie? What are your thoughts? I just watched it and wow that was pretty good I admit... won't say anymore until I see some feedback :)

When I saw it in the theater, at the end, I laughed for 15 minutes straight. I think it was me going through this trippy ride of dark emotions and finally at the end you hear that voice over, something like, "don't worry, life will get better" juxtaposed with the image of the protagonist insanely messed up.
It was a brilliant film where everything was just so exaggerated that you were sucked into this world. I highly recommend "Ichi The Killer"-- so messed up but kinda funny at the same time. I've also seen "Happiness of the Katakuris", it had some really cool animated sequences and pretty funny, but I'm sure I'd find it hilarious if I grew up on 70's and 80's Japanese television.

You're recommending "Ichi the Killer"?!?!
Yeah, the trailer alone made me want to vomit.

Yes Ichi the Killer was pretty awesome. It was very cartoonish in a way... like ichi with his suit, Kakihara with his "the joker" look alike outfits, and many more numerous characters... The movie definitely contains immense ammount of extreme gore. The part that made me the most edgy was the scene were prostitute's nipples were sliced off .... man that was just wrong! I think what made it really sick was that the chic's nipples were stretched out onto the table then a knife goes sliding accross slicing them... hehe oops i said too much already so i wont spoil the rest ...

I've heard of both movies, but i've never had the twisted pleasure to watch any of them.

Ichi... i saw it on theater ..good and funny, sad because i was expecting more maybe..
But actually ..Fudo and Full Metal Yakusa was both my favorite...
Fudo was dark And FMY was just ridiculous....I dont know where he find this but but it just so stupid....The firt half hour is pretty slow for the intro but after is so funny......
Just my opinion.......

Two to three movies a year is considered a lot for a director. Miike averages eight a year.

thats soo awesome.
does he do the films for artistic reasons or for lack of money?
i mean he is the independent movie guy of japan right?
you cant really make a living on independent films unless they all become international hits.
one could say that he is playing with odds.

In a recent interview I read of Miike's, I think he does it because he can and because he loves doing movies. That's such a broad summary though. I'm going to have to find that interview again.

Miike for money reason...?
Some maybe have their own opinion....but who will make gore or some killer yakuza for earn money...?>?
If he make love or drama movie i can understand for the money reason...
But Miike make me remember Wong-Kar wai( God and master or asian movie art)
I dont think they make movie for some green bills.Maybe for some film but mostly for artistic...
Is now your choise to decide
..All is a illusion ..it what you believe that is true.....
See you...
