SINGAPORE (AP) – A Singaporean newspaper says Chinese movie star Jet Li has become a citizen of the city-state and bought property there.

The Business Times reported Wednesday that Li bought a house last month for 19.8 million Singapore dollars ($13.6 million).

Singapore's immigration service declined to comment on Li's citizenship when contacted by The Associated Press.

The paper said Li moved his family to Singapore in 2007 for his children's education.

Li's movie credits include "Lethal Weapon 4," ''Romeo Must Die" and "The Forbidden Kingdom."

It's better be a citizen of a developed country like Singapore than a nondemocracy country like China.
