As you know the west purposedly withholding advance technology away from China. It doesn't want China to be able to compete with them at that.

It's using the dual use control/arms control as excuse to restrict China's access to the latest technology.

recently Taiwan wants to relax its rule and bring about 12 inch semiconductor tech to China but it's limited to 0.18um or above anything below is not allowed, which is under the export control by the west. This has nothing to do with dual use for military , it's solely used to keep China 's tech backward. Currently all 8 inches tech are allowed in China. Heck, if there are used for military what can 12 inch do the 8 inch cannot? No, this rule is strictly to restrict China's commercial competitveness.

So, under this type restriction, how can China break through and catch up with the west?

I think CHina cannot follow the current trend of tech used predominantly by the west otherwise, it will never catch up because the west will only give China obsolete tech to play with. So, instead Maybe shift into new and different tech not used by the west therefore bypass their restriction.

If CHina can develope some new tech and achieve economy of scale in China then the west will have to adopt CHina's tech and then CHina would be leader in the new tech.

yeah this kind of $hit clearly hurts China's competitiveness, which suits the west very well.
China tried very hard to get the EU embargo lifted, and got some inroads with France, but then it got stalled.
does anyone publish a list of specific items that have been denied to china? I'd like to know the scale of this impact..

What I'm interested in is when the United States will release the technology from their secret UFO research to the public. I mean, come on, stealth bombers and precision rocketry are pretty cool, but flying saucers with faster-than-light flight speeds are totally badass.

Disclosure Project:

"The Disclosure Project is an organization started by Steven M. Greer in 1993, which alleges a US government cover-up of information relating to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The Project claims that UFOs are spacecraft piloted by intelligent extraterrestrial life, and that the United States government has kept this secret. The project claims that the government has also concealed advanced energy technologies obtained from the aliens that are being suppressed and hidden in top secret "black projects" in order not to upset the world geopolitical power and energy sector financial status quo and its oil industry "special interests".

The Project's goal is for free and open Congressional hearings of all data regarding UFOs, including the large amount of information they claim is being hidden, and for release of the technology they claim is being suppressed, particularly free energy sources."

The United States Airforce is always cooking up something interesting. I mean, can you imagine the potential implications if a weapon like the Halitosis bomb were to be implemented in warfare? The results would be both hilarious and horrifying at the same time. I imagine UFOs are only the tip of the iceberg.

Gay Bomb:

"The "Halitosis bomb" and "Gay bomb" are informal names for two theoretical non-lethal chemical weapons, which a United States Air Force research laboratory speculated about producing, which involved discharging female sex pheromones over enemy forces in order to make them sexually attracted to each other. The U.N. regards the 'gay bomb' as both an illegal and degrading weapon."

bwaha aliens..
one's for sure, if there are any aliens out, the chinese government would know about at least as much as the US do.
you can't be stupid after crossing light speed. they would know whom to contact. it is a very pragmatic government they would seek, if they have good intent. but if they have bad intent, they will have competition and dissidents that will join the chinese part of the world.

-----------

China has already started the salvo, not selling rare earth metals to the west. China owns 95% of this. This should level the playing field.

Next part is killing the US dollar as well as the Euro. China is squeezing the west financially right now. The US needs $9 Trillion by the end of September and China has officially told the US no they would not lend them anymore. The spigot has stopped, from this point any funds that US needs will have to be paid via Yuan bonds. Things are happening so quickly, I can see China pulling another bank run on the west again especially before the year ends as the dollar officially collapse.

Once the Western economies fall, then will the playing field for China be fair as they can get all the technology they want at this time as the west and japan's societies have collapse in turmoil. Various rabid violent factions fighting in the new western civil war would trade these technologies in exchange for supplies.
