If used in the correct manner, it certainly can.
Isacc Asimov was right in many ways, he certainly wrote with vision.
We can free ourselves from the restriction of those who wish to keep us controlled.
Image a world where you really are Free to enjoy, no more national boarders, no more class or cultural boarders, just we the people of earth enjoying our genius.
Technology needs the people of earth to take charge of it, before those of us humans with evil intend, use it for their own evil purposes(ie Government, Bankers and Corporations)
LOve and Kindness Brothers and Sisters.

Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, and crafts, or is systems or methods of organization, or is a material product (such as clothing) of these things.
Steven Pinker is correct in pointing out that innovations in technology are not making us less smart. And he is also correct that we need to curb our appetites for media that are becoming more and more immediate all the time.
But his emphasis on the mechanics of the brain slights the critical importance of face-to-face contact and talk between people. Surfing and Twittering in cyberspace preclude our talking with one another to maintain our social connectedness to the real world.
