Already judged to be Europe’s worst tourists last year, the French have now been named as the worst in the world.

In a survey of 4,500 international hotel owners, they are criticised for not speaking
foreign languages and of being arrogant and tight with their cash.

One reason given for their poor behaviour abroad is that the French are not used to travelling. Most stick to the attractions of their own country.

French tourists were praised for being almost as well dressed abroad as Italians. However, the overall message was that a polite bonjour, merci, or au revoir – spoken in the local language – would be a big improvement.

The next worst tourists were the Spanish and Greeks, said to be noisy and badly behaved.

The Japanese came out top in the survey again. They are polite and discreet, calm in the face of adversity, and they never complain. The only drawback is that they have difficulty speaking other languages.

British and Canadian tourists came second and third in the poll, which was carried out for an Internet travel agency. The survey compared the behaviour of 27 different nationalities

I have Fench realitives. When they visit they all cramb into one room in my house. all 5 of them. They even packed there own freaken detergent and iron. Going to places was a hassle, they spend way to much time getting the pleats done right on there slacks, i just throw on a pair of kahki shorts and T-shirt, and they look at me like Im a bum.

france is like the united states, both are multicultural and have tolerance toward all people. it's better to rude but honest. happy and smiling people are all fake.

From what i know when it comes to tipping, French ppl dont tip cuz in France the tip is already included on the bill.

It's said that Israelis are the rudest in the world.

I thought it was the Brits who were named the worst tourists? They're the ones who fly to exotic destinations just to get drunk.

The survey is only based on international hotel owners. British tourists only start trouble when they go outside to bars, pubs, clubs, football stadiums, etc. If the general local populations were being surveyed, then Brits would come out among the worst.

It's quite ironic how so many Brits back home complain about badly-behaved immigrants, but are completely oblivious to the bad behaviour of our own British tourists abroad.
