That's not true.
http://www.montrealgazette.com/cars/Ford+c...1566/story.html The quality usually depends on how fast they are producing the cars. Usually, the faster the production, the less the quality. Toyota has been ramping up production too fast after becoming the world's largest automaker, and consequently their quality has dipped considerably.
The Chevy Malibu is outstanding and has received the #1 car award amongst many other awards, and it IS currently the best sedan out there. Furthermore, the Chevy Volt is THE best-looking hybrid soon to be on the market.
I believe Asians tend to be biased against GM, Ford, and Chrysler.

if u actually compared these cars, u'll know how $hitty american cars are
my roommate got a the newest Chevy Impala as a rental for a few days
that car sucked balls, engine has no power, transmission shift like $hit, interior is full of cheap plastics, poor arrangement on the instrument cluster, let alone the $hitting sound system and etc
only good thing i can think of is that the car is HUGE, maybe thats bad too?!
my other roommate drives a 07 or 08 Camry, both of these cars arent the top of the line model, and are actually equipped similarily
i have driven both cars. i must say the Camry is much more pleasant to drive, seats are more comfy, stereo doesnt suck, less road noise
and if someone asks "i need a reliable daily driver thats under 10k, would u pick a toyota or some old @$$ american car?"

I think you have anti-Ameicansim. Your bias is showing. The German designed Chevy Malibu / Saturn Aura / Opel Insignia / Vauxhall Insignia has won NUMEROUS "best in the line" awards, in both North America and Europe. You are just for Asian brands because you consider yourself Asian.

i wouldnt mind owning a corvette or a viper when it comes down to performance (duh!). but when it comes to econoboxes and cars in the 30-50K range, i prefer imports for some reaon.

Why reserve imports for Asian brands? Asian brand cars sold in the US are most likely manufactured in the US or Canada. On the other hand, German brand cars are never built in the US and are imported into the US.

so if companies like toyota and honda have factories here in the USA that builds cars... you consider them domestic just because they are built here?

They are all supposed to be global MNCs that belong to NO country. However, now GM has been overtaken and owned primarily by the US and Canadian governments ( an act of Socialism ), a first-time in its history. Under normal circumstances, these global MNCs belong to NO country and supply every country they possibly can.

well, yea...toyota is multinational company. i consider them japanese considering their headquarters is in japan, the company was founded by a japanese man, and ran by mostly japanese (i dont know, just guessing, lol).
but its widely known in the automotive industry in the USA that compnies like toyota, honda, nissan, etc are imports.

i cant believe i wasted 15 minutes discussing this. but then again, you just joined today and is just trolling and im bored at work. when i said toyota was a japanese company, i didnt mean the japanese governement owns the company
in the automotive world, when someone hears a name like Toyota and Honda (to only name a few).. they think of imports/Japanese. When they hear Hyundai and Kia, they think or imports/Korea. When they hear names like Ford, GM, Chrysler, they think of domestic/USA. Everyone with common sense thinks and knows this. the USA, government, Japanese government, European country governments, marketing analysts, every single car magazines, teenagers, senior citizens, local newschannels and all their parent companies. no one goes around saying toyota and ford are owned by the human race. unless theyre weirdos like you.
But hey... who wouldve thought these well known companies label them japanese cars and domestic cars
