How is the show? Is there a lot of action? Or just cheesy vampire love stories?

I've seen the promo, haven't really paid attention to it though. Judging from the looks of it, it looks pretty good!
I guess no one on AF watches it. My GF claims it's "Good Stuff!" so I might check it out. Shouldn't be too bad if it's on HBO right?

HBOs slaccin. they have that and a show called hung. Spend that 10 a month on showtime. You get weeds, dexter, boxing matches and strikeforce.

I downloaded the first season via torrent and thought it was pretty interesting. So interesting that I read the series of the books that the show was based on. The Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries. Each season seems to be based on a book. Season 1 = Book 1, Season 2 = Book 2, etc. I'd say about 65% of the content in the show follows the book. There are currently 9 books out and I think the 10th comes out in October. Which is pretty good because there are a lot of familiarities in the show but enough new material to keep it interesting next week. Season 2 doesn't seem to follow the books as closely as season 1 did though.
As for the show itself I'd say it's enjoyable. Personally I can't stand the Sookie in the show. Not that I don't like Anna Paquin or her acting, but her character comes off as whiny, stupid, b!tchy, and pushy. The books are first person point of view so maybe getting into her character's head makes her more relatable than in the show. The acting isn't too bad although sometimes it can be a bit over the top. The main characters are great.
I'd recommend watching the show (starting with season 1 if you haven't seen it already) and even reading the books if you're into books. Even if the vampire genre isn't your thing (it's not mine) I think you can enjoy it.

I watched 2 episodes on the internet and just stopped. Not that exciting. Kind of like Twilight for "grownups".
