this doesn't make sense. are they going to conquer the north pole and discover solid gold icebergs
but on second thought they are losing people so fast that it adds up.

you are right, anything can happen in 40 years.
This is of course if everyone is growing at same phase as now. ;>

Yup, Its BS especially considering these predictions were pre-recession. Also, Mexico, Nigeria and Russia's economies all depend on oil, a resource that will practically be depleted by 2050.

That's my initial reaction as well. With North Korea actively building their military capabilities , I'm not so sure about the overall stability of S Korea for the next 50 years. Technically they are still at war and anything IS possible.
Not to mention , did they consider the possibilities of any interesting world/nation changing events at all?

GDP per capita does not means wealth
SK's goods' price is extremely high. The wage that is paid in SK does not have the ability to buy the same amount of good as the Americans even though their GDP per capita is relatively equal. GDP is a statics that used for a country to compare to themselves today to their past, not really for compare to other countries.

but when ever any kids who study the wealth of the nation they look at gdp per capita. It's a good way to brain wash them, no?

There's no way America will have a higher GDP per capita than Korea in 2050.

About 6.5 million Jews live in the United States and 0.5 million Jews live in Canada.
That's why in 2050, GDP Per Capita of United States will still be high.

I hate predictions like these.. you're not supposed to take these things seriously.
Otherwise it'd be like counting your chickens before they hatch..

Goldman Sachs has released a new paper specifically dealing with a united Korea and its potential. The interesting part of the report is how South Korea would pay for unification and the rebuilding of the north.

In 1990 when I first came to America, a gallon of gas cost less than $1. Now 20 years later in 2010, it costs $3.
Twenty years from, a gallon of gas may cost $10.
