I just want to get your opinions on this.
please post : ]
and thanks
I also wanted to ask if you guys think that the Philippines has potential to be as popular as, lets say, the Korean entertainment industry

what does "popular" exactly mean to you?
popular to whom? internationally or among filipinos?
do you like "entertainment industry" or particular movies, actors, singers, shows?

for what at all should the domestic E.I. be popular abroad?
do they have products in the first place, that are targeted at foreign cultures?

I like some singers of the variety shows, and I see no attempt at all to market them to non-filipinos.
at least GMA seems to have no busimess model at all, to make any money with such an attempt.

south korea: different!
they have the arirang satellite program, it is free and targeted to a global audience.
commerce, politics, discussion, advertising, MUCH culture and folklore, AND - korean pop and classic music. they have some soap/teleserye shows also, with english and spanish sub titles.
currently they are creating a network of industrial, entertainment, and societal/educational relations with a particular european country.
japan has NHK.

well the cinematography and the whole production is similar to western produced movies...also the general interests in those culture. most people if you ask them what are the cultures or the languages they want to learn will tell you japanese or chinese, fewer interest in per se, tagalog or philippines.

Many Foreigners watch and join Wowowee.

For a Korean show like "Boys over Flowers" I find it so gay.
