I've only attended an Indian wedding once, and it was a Hindu couple of Tamil ethnicity wedding ceremony. I'd say it was a very colourful ceremony, with interesting rituals and spicy food! I remember this one ritual whereby audience on the floor were given a handful of rice and then they started to throw the rice to the newly-wed. What a havoc it was with grains of rice flying off in all directions!! lol...Probably it is some kind of a blessing ritual. The food was marvelous, curry galore in its best. I don't know if it is normal to give cash to the family of the host, but a nice gift will do I think.
But that is a Hindu wedding of the Tamils, Indian weddings of Christian faith is a bit different. I haven't been in one yet, but I think it's quite similar to any typical western wedding. Also Indian of Sikh ethnicity often includes Banghra dance in their weddings. I've seen pictures of my Sikh friend and they seemed to have a great time dancing Banghra with the grandmother even!
I guess each ethnic group has their own traditional way of wedding ceremony and rituals.

Hey aero!
I think u can give the red packet (ang pow) because it's something common in weddings to give cash gift to help the couple pay for the cost of the wedding. Even if they are muslim, u can still give the cash gift... maybe in a white envelope instead of the red packet??
You can wear anything u like, so long as it's smart-looking!
I think the food will be delicious so enjoy the curries!!!!

I'm sure that'll be a good experience. Hope K.Aero enjoy the time in Malaysia and also enjoying the scene of wedding. If you have to enter the temple, just treat it the same you enter Wat.

3 Days its kinda too short ,the culture and stuffs is very similar to Thailand espacialy the Hindu wedding one that they got the hose party stuffs on the day before wedding. They got the 2 banana tree infront of the house then after the wedding they grown them.
In Thai culture one we got similar things that the groom side give the banana tree to the bride parent to plant.

I doubt the Malaysia Indian Hindus proceed to plant those banana trees....
Most I saw were already older trees that had bared fruits?

The problem is in my camera havent got my picture at wedding that much. More on bride and Groom.I am wearing formal dress. Many of Malay friend there wear patik. I stay in Klang ,take an hour train to KL every day not going out that much. The food during day time in mamak shop on Romandon can be crab some time ,they not taste the food. The Bukkutae Klang style is kinda thick ,but I prefer KL stlye one the soup is so great. Plus watching the Manchestor united in Mamak stall is kinda cool.

Cool pic, Indian wedding is certainly cool. I remember that I had once invited to my father's friend wedding, but I don't have the pic. Their wedding music is so cool, it's cooler when you see it in front of your eyes than you just listen it in TV or in radio.
