Drug Cartels are taking over Mexico, especially the border areas. They are waging wars and killing Federal agents, Polices, Governors..etc. From drug money, they able to get top of line weapons.. It's simply out of control.

Here's a picture of Mexican Polices finding the dead bodies Federal agents, Policemen. Many of them got tortured before killed.

Imagine this, on broad daylight, the drug cartel had the gut to murdered the police chief while he was having lunch in Laredo or gunned down the Governor in Cuarez.

When the president sent special anti-narcotics Federal agents from Mexico city and come to the border areas, many of them got murdered like shown in the pic.

Okay, so what's your point? The drug cartels are retaliating in response to their leaders being arrested by federal police, which is logical. I already knew this. Are you shocked at the nature of these people? You shouldn't be. They're ruthless, avaricious and will do anything to remain in power. And right now, they have more power than the government itself. They're sending a message to those who oppose them. The only people really losing out are the civilians caught in the middle of it all. Our little war on drugs has been a reeeeal success. The real war should be fought here, on US soil.

My only suggestion to you would be to read about the history of Mexico's drug business and on recent events happening on both sides of the border. Pay attention to the news. Soon you'll be able to piece the puzzle together. In this story, there are not "good guys" or "bad guys", just men who want ultimate control. It's not nearly as black and white as the US and Mexican media portray it. Hell, even the feds are corrupted to a degree. You guys might be experts when it comes to China/Korea/Japan, but you're absolutely clueless when it comes to how things work in Mexico.

How many fairly big sized and Non-poor countries in the world have situation like this?
With GDP of above $6000 per capita, Mexico is a medium level country. It's not some backward or poor countires like in Africa or central Asia.

Just glancing at those numbers, the Mexican government should have the resources to get things done. But it's out of control.

per capital doesn't mean anything because the wealth is heavily concentrated in the hands of a few oligarchies such as Carlos Slim.
JakeCutter
Hahaha... you actually think the Mexican government cares about their citizens. As long as the few who remain in power have their influence and wealth, there is no problem in their eyes.

embarassedlaugh.gif mexican gov still controls more than the cartels ever could. they control military, politics, commerce....

the cartels are forcing the gov to waste money during a recession. its just really stupid. even if mexican gov only cares about themselves, they are still running those major areas.

i was talking more, dealing with other nations kinda level of politics.

but yes, this is more fail. more money into fighting cartels means less money for running the country on a macro scale.

i heard in some towns, there have been over a 1000 people killed so far this year. All hell seems to be breaking loose

Yep, the president Felipe Calderon is a puppet of the drug lords. The Mexican government is using violence (military, federal police) so they can stop the violence. Solving violence with violence will only create more violence. This has been an issue for so many years and the government just let it build more and more, now lawyers, police officers, judges, civilians and drug lords are dying in the streets. The ugly truth is that the Mexican government is supporting one of the drug cartels.
afewminutesofyourlife
I thought the government was corrupted , they don't know whos siding with the cartel and who isn't.

The Mexican government is actually pretty incompetent ie inexperienced, corrupted, and weak. Are you sure they control more than cartels? Do you have any idea how many people in the GOVERNMENT actually work for the cartels? Politicians and law officials are easily bought over, and those who oppose the cartels are usually made into examples by these ruthless hit men. The most feared are Los Zetas, ex-elite soldiers once trained at American military schools. High ranking men once thought invincible have not been spared from the violence there. The gov ain't running $hit... the cartels are winning, no doubt. Their influence is found all through out North and Central America. Certain parts of El Paso, TX are so bad no police will even go there. I'm sure you've heard of the Mex government arresting cartel leaders. Well, more often than not, they are paid to do so by rival cartels. Anyway, law officials are terrified nowadays. Most refuse to be assigned to certain cities for fear of losing their lives. No one talks. That's how much power they have. Fear of death alone is stopping many investigators, reporters, and police from doing their jobs.

Time for you to hit the links.

On a more positive note, we are making some progress:
