I think it is quite good to be married like that in the first place if you are really meant to be....

IF...wow that's a hella of a word. followed by 'meant to be'. Lol. They're either meant to be divorced, or like most Catholics, Christians and Muslims in the Philippines, living life that in Eric Clapton's song Promises.

Why surprised? It's not Muslim. Ancient Pinoys marry through buya buya. Parents chose the future spouse of the kids.

And not only that. Your great-great-great grandparents married their cousins.

Inter tribal marriage was rare, so if you're Pangalatok, there's a big chance that most Pangalatok are your blood relatives.

Actually, there was no concept of tribes or ethnic in the prehispanic philippines or before europeans came to asia but there is a concept of state and kingdom it is just that if you settle in an area you are not native to you need to adjust to their language in prehispanic philippines neighbouring towns tend to speak a similar tongue but there are still differences and there are dialect continuums between languages for example batanggenyo and daet bikol have a continuum that includes marinduque tagalog the more closer you are to daet, camarines norte the speech becomes more daet bikol in reverse if you go near to batangas it becomes more batanguenyo the dialects in marinduque,s.quezon and camarines norte other than daet are intermediate between those two.

There used to be Intermediate dialects between Ilocano,Pangasinan and Kapampangan.
