The choppers have finally subsided in their surveillance! They were freaking me out!

She came and chided the kenyans on their government of impunity. She told them to listen to what Mr Obama had to say because he is a son of Kenya. She talked to the chief of Somalia and pledge new help to beat the crap out of the Al-Shabab! what else....

She's even got a proposal for her daughter's hand in marriage!!

Again, someone else's article?
Do you ever think for yourself other than when you hurl insults?

Yes, the Kenyans do know how to get a leg up ... just like my little doggie when I take him for a walk.
Just to piss on the world and stuff ... just wonderful .....

You sympathize deeply with the people of Kenya don't you?
tangawizi
@AV, u are getting pathetically sensitive these days.. embarassedlaugh.gif
Come on, chill out will you?

@baal, the people of Kenya are fuc-ked over by their government, its a fact.

I just think it's ingenious how they engage with the mighty and powerful thru simple means such as the dowry of goats and cows. It brings the reality of the gulf between the haves and have-nots to the fore. Mrs Clinton can zoom in to tell their leaders off, but she can't alleviate their immediate problems anytime sooner. It will be interesting to see how the US government intends to influence the politics in this continent for the foreseeable future..

As you know Africa is so vast that one set of American policies is not appropriate for the entire continent. Northern Africa can be divided into the Maghreb, the murderous state of Sudan, and the sophisticated state of Egypt. East Africa can be divided into Ethiopia, the crazy states of Eritrea and Somalia, the non-aligned nations of Tanzania and the traditionally friendly nation of Kenya.

In West Africa only Nigeria matters to Americans. Central Africa is dominated by the tragedy of the DR of Congo; but Rwanda is friendly to America and there is hope for positive relations. I don't know enough about Burundi and Malawi to comment.

America has complicated relations with the nation of South Africa. They are like us in some ways, but the ANC is too hostile for SA to currently have good relations with all segments of the American people. Iif a country wants truly good relations with America it must not be seen as hostile by any significant group of Americans.

Bush made a mistake with the Arabs of Sudan, Egypt and the Maghreb by acting as a militant democratizer. Democracy is not meant for Arabs. But Bush did the right thing in spending $15 billion on aids assistance to sub-Saharan Africa.

Imo America should focus on the most important nations of Africa with whom positive relations are or may someday be possible, e.g., Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia and South Africa. Kenya, Morocco and Rwanda are nations with whom America should maintain friendly relations. America should stay away from Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and the DR of Congo. I don't know enough about the Sahel nations, Angola, Namibia or Mozambique to comment.

Relations should be based on economics, cultural exchanges, legal immigration for non-Muslims, and the sale of arms. Africa may someday be an arena for conflict between America/the West and China in places such as Zimbabwe.

I'm sure that somewhere there are African Americans who are interested in the political affairs of the African continent. But I don't know them and have never heard of them. Except politically, the African American community is not monolithic. Their views can be influenced by class, color, religion, education, access to Black Privilege, etc.

It's normal to wonder about long lost roots, and to develop an ideology based on some element of myth. For example, I've seen such emotions from Irish Americans. But that doesn't mean that there is a real connection between faux Irish and real Irish. African Americans are no different.

Some African Americans do care about political developments and conditions among the peoples of Africa to the extent it supports their narrative of Afro-Centrism here in America. Afro-Centrism is a social, political and cultural ideology of some African Americans. From what I can tell it is not related to the experiences of Africans since the end of the colonial era. Some African Americans did discuss events like the life and death of the South African hero Steven Biko, but only because it fit in with their narrative of white oppression.

Such talk ended when Nelson Mandella became president of SA. From what I can tell African Americans do not discuss Darfur, the unimaginable tragedy of the DR of Congo, Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe, Uganda under Idi Amin, human trafficking of Christian Sudanese, or the piracy of Puntland. I assume such subjects are not discussed by Black elites in America is because they do not involve white oppression. Such is the state of group identity politics in the current generation of Americans.

There are forces in America tearing the races apart, while at the same time there are other forces bringing us together on an individual basis. No one knows how it will turn out. But America is a dynamic country. It's one of our strengths.

Just as a related topic, the new movie District 9 is about aliens, but I hear it's suppose to be addressing the political problems in Africa.

A hickey can be a contusion or bruise on the skin caused by another person sucking on it during lovemaking. Alternatively, a hickey can be an unsophisticated young woman of mixed Chinese/Malay ethnicity who doesn't realize when she is being mocked.

the dumbest thing so far is when she blew up on a question when she was in Congo. It was rude by damn you can't get that to your head.

Didn't she lose her cool when someone asked her for her husband's opinion?
She said that she was not here to channel her husband? embarassedlaugh.gif
