Japan had invaded and try to colonize the Whole Asia, stretch all the way to Indonesia? Why they didn't try to colonize Australia? After all, Australia is huge, underpopulated, alot of resources. Is that because they were occpuied by the Anglos and therefore Japan was afraid to touch them.

Instead Japan try to colonize the overpopulated areas of Asia. That was mistake, the western countries who successfuly colonized like the Africa, America, Australia, they did so by doing it far far away from their homeland.

Instead Japan try to do the Sh!t in its own immedate neighborhood.. That was dumb...

Picking on the same race of its own is a cowardly act. Don't you think?

If Japan just take Australia from the anglos, then leave the rest of Asia alone, then that wouldn't be WWII, and suffered from atomic bomb and proabaly Australia would still under Japan today..

Their War planners were both discriminating and dumb.

They should have concentrated on capturing the Russian Far East instead. It's one of the most natural resource/oil-rich places on Earth. Just a hand-full of those arctic islands probably have more oil than the entire Australian continent.

Why didn't they attempt to colonize Australia?

It was probably part of their plans, but Australia is much more further away from Japan than any of the immediate surrounding countries.

They didnt discriminate, after all Indonesia at the time was called the Dutch East Indies, occupied by the Netherlands, a european nation.

Not to mention invade and occupy many American pacific islands and several Alaskan Aleutian islands, which was probably their biggest mistake.

Their plans to invade only asian countries is false, territory is territory whether the land is home to asians, whites, or any other race.

Invading Russia was the last thing japan wanted to do during ww2. Not to mention, their manchuko army was completely obliterated by Zhukov's siberian forces.

Colonize? Lol, no. Don't confuse Japanese nationalism with colonization. Japan attempted to colonize, more accurately rule their immediate neighbors because they were within their spheres of influence. Japan made it as far as Korea and Taiwan, China showed stiff resistance against their military advancements.

Although around the time of WWII, Japan did advance as far as Indonesia in 1942, their supply lines were already stretched quite thin by that point. It would've been futile to try and take any British territory. Japan did not want to take on Russia either, considering throughout WWII Russia rather ignored the Pacific theater concentrating mostly on Europe.

Looking in hindsight, there's a lot of things Germany and Japan could've done different and probably would've been much more successful. Luckily for us, they didn't.

Japan was already over stretching it's resource by the time they reach PNG and couldn't even take Port Moresby. They hid this problem by initiating bombing and submarine raids all around Australia which creates a sense of insecurity and uncertainty in the Aust. population this giving Japan more time to recuperate from their lack of resources. No doubt Australia is part of what they want.

I personally think Japan should have create a front in Siberia, this would help Germany's war effort on the Ost front. Germany could knock around 5000-8000 Russian tanks in a month (not sure real figures) and Russian could produce 10000+ in a month while Russian could knock around 80-100 German tanks in a month and Germany due to American and British bombing raids could only produce around 50-75 tanks in a month. Most of these tanks and soldiers came from Siberia. If Japan could create another front or at least initiate raids over Siberia this would greatly help the Axis powers war effort.

Like Splur said the Axis powers could have done so much more but they didn't.

Japan did try to invade Russia in 1939 but it was a complete failure.

Also, Germany asked japan to assault Russia from the east, but they simply refused because of their loss at the border skirmish with Soviets.

Not to mention, japan was way too busy dealing with south east asia.
