I've heard BC is the new Columbia with massive drug rings and crime... is Vancouver becoming a dangerous place? I've heard that many companies are taking their offices out of Vancouver as well.
I lived in Vancouver for a year and I haven't witnessed anything close to a crime. I have seen crackheads and thugs around, but that's only because I was nearing the dangerous part of town at night (East Hastings).
Vancouver is not on the decline. I love Vancouver. I've lived in Toronto all my life and Vancouver for only one year, and I can confidently say I would choose to live in Vancouver ten out of ten times. Toronto is a hell hole compared to Van-city. Friggin' Toronto has TTC strikes, garbage strikes, support worker strikes, teacher strikes, etc... every damn year.
The only two things are better in Toronto than Van-city:
1. Prices. Things tend to be 10 to 25% cheaper in Toronto than Vancouver. This ranges from rent to gas prices to even cans of tomato. Yes, I made price comparisons between cans of tomato. In Toronto, cans of tomato are less than a dollar (around $0.85), but in Vancouver, it's like a dollar something ($1.50). What the hell? So expensive. But whatever.
2. Job availability. Toronto is the financial capital of Canada. It's natural that Toronto would have more jobs than Vancouver. If Vancouver had more jobs available, it would be paradise on earth.
Girls are better in Vancouver. Scenary is better in Vancouver. People are friendlier in Vancouver. Air is cleaner in Vancouver. Weather is better in Vancouver. Beaches are better in Vancouver.
I love staring at girls butts in Vancouver. So nice.
