According to Maslow's Triangle, a person can only self-actualize when safety and love / belongingness are provided for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow%27s_hierarchy_of_needs

What does it mean to be self-actualized? And if those are the basic needs that have to be covered, and if you're talking about all americans, then no not all americans are self-actualized. Not all americans have safety and love.

Of course, one safety issue facing contemporary Americans is racially-motivated attack. This is a safety issue affecting potentially every American. Self-actualized means you are driven by instinct to achieve the best you can to create and produce, when basic needs are met. Think of how powerful America could have been, and was.
