This is not about tourism. Its where the biggest population of Japanese people live outside of Japan.

Its true, there is a huge Japanese population of Japanese in Brazil. That's why Martial Arts is so popular in that country. beerchug.gif

What did surprise me was that 1/6th of the Japanese population that live in the U.S. live in the Philippines - I don't no anyone or heard about anyone living their.

I was surprised too. I know that there's some old retired folk choosing to live in Thailand, but Philippines is news to me.

Turns out, the figure quoted is wrong. The article source on Wiki came from this:

http://globalnation.inquirer.net/news/brea...l_--_RP_embassy

It tells you that there's 220,000 Filipinos in Japan, not that there's 220,000 Japanese in the Philippines.

Peru only 81000?

When Fujimori became president I learned about Japanese people in Peru, I thought it should be more than that.
