A Hawaiian congressman wants to send Hawaiians to do construction work in guam to house the 17,000 marines and their families that will be leaving Japan. The original plan was let local peopel and near by islanders like the Filipinos get the work.
The original project was $10 billion that may balloon to $20 billion. Here's the crap: the funding will be provided by the U.S. and Japan. The fact the funding split is undisclosed tells me Japan will be footing more than half - Whenever the U.S. funds the majority of something they advertise it. Why does Japan have to pay for the U.S. to relocate its Marines?
Like leeches, they want to drain every last drop of blood!
The DPJ win couldn't have come at a better time.

From what I remember the relationship is not so one-sided as people think. There's a lot of conspiracy about why/how the LDP ruled for so long as well and it involved huge sums of money from the United States that went straight into the pockets of guys like former PMs Sato, Kishi and all the other LDP cronies. Just read the stuff like the Lockheed bribery scandals, the connections between the Politicians and the Yakuza and you'll see there's something going on but not enough concrete evidence. Like they say.. the brighter the light, the darker the shadows.
This is just sick. I've constantly heard things like, "the US military serves overseas because those countries want them there". Okay, that's fine. But what happens if they don't want them there, like in Japan's case. Why does Japan have to foot the bill?

no kidding, if the US wants influence in the region, the US should pay for it. Otherwise the US Marines should stop raping 14 year old girls and get their asses the hell out of Japan.
