http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...nN8v3QD9AFJQK00First, to all the people who take green peaces side on this issue, I like to point out that Japan is and always has been in full compliance with the International Whaling Committee( IWC). People are accusing Japan that they found a loop-hole in the law that allows them to take more whales than the original law intended. People are accusing Japan of abusing the system. Too bad, abusing a law or using a law in ways not intended are all subjective, it depends on your personal vantage point. Tuff, if you don't like it, change the IWC laws - don't blame Japan for following the law just because you don't like the result. If IWC changes its laws, Japan can reevaluate its membership to the IWC, it goes both ways.
But more important, unlike other whales, ocean dolphins are abundant! River dolphins around the world are in
great danger of going extincted in Brazil, India and China. Japan in no way has any affect on these dolphins; and I know there are conservation efforts sponsored by the governments of each listed country to save these dolphins. Big question, why is this guy focusing on Japan killing dolphins legally when they are abundant and in no danger of extinction not to mention this practice of harvesting local water dolphins is ancient and never once was their a long term study conducted that showed this practice lowered the local water population of dolphins over time.
If he really cared, he would work on getting public awareness on the river dolphin because they are an endangered species. But then, this would take a lot of hard work. So instead they film the Japanese killing dolphins hoping that some attention would naturally go to the river dolphins plight. Real honorable people these dolphin lovers.

first off, why do you care what some hippie birkenstock hemp necklace wearing PETA terrorist says. China gets $hit all the damn time having people side against it on most issues, globally all year round, regardless if its true or over-exaggerated. i'm sorry but this thread deserves 0 sympathy points from me.

Because lies, if left encountered, become truth. Most people think Japan is illegally slaughtering whales when the truth is Japan has always complied with all IWC laws. Yet, these lies can affect tourism, international business relations and policies with other countries.
Anyway, Japan is fading back, China is the next target.
You should be concerned, don't you know China is at the top of the hit list?

come on, bro. you and I both know, that there's enough Japanophiles to turn a blind eye on that. nothing would prevent them for their incessant need to tour Japan.
China has been the target of criticism for years already, like I care what western countries think. They know exactly where China is heading and they know that CHina has control of its reins. Nothing they say or do will change the inevitability of China taking the global throne

dolphins are just gay sharks lol jk(no offense to dolphins anywhere) But in all seriousness sometimes these people like to put an emotional attachment to certain animals for some reason. For example western people eat beef all they want but they find it deplorable that other cultures eat dog and use excuses such as they are "man's best friend" and therefore it is justifable to eat cows and not dogs which is hypocritical in my opinion.

The dolphins are more intelligent than Australians. They manipulate them to turn them into crazy kamikaze so they lead suicide attacks on Japanese whaling ships.

What about the shark fin issue? There seems to be more attack on it.
Some people have a problem with the fact that the fin is cut off and the poor thing is thrown back into the ocean. What's the big deal? Why is it not okay if the rest of the shark will be consumed by other creatures in the sea anyway?

I agree, but animals on the endangered species list have to be protected in some way. some sharks are on the list and those I think shouldn't be caught.
Do people in Taiwan eat shark meat? The coastal parts of Japan don't eat shark, instead they ship all the sharks inland were its sold under the name "Mor'e". Inlanders have been eating Mor'e for decades not knowing its shark.

I gues many western people find it disturbing that people eat dolphins because they look sweet, wich ofcourse isnt a good argument. But it is emotions. Also it has something to do that dolphins are smart animals, but recently they found out that pigs are very smart animals too.
As long as you dont eat rare animals, or let animals suffer unnessercery, people should eat whatever they like. So when fisherman cut off the fins of shark, then just kill the shark too. No need let it suffer more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4pdiZzObe4I agreed with this guy in this video. Animal activist had gone to far when they start putting animal ahead of another human being rights. I don't see what's so bad about killing dolphin for the value of their meats. Japanese fishermen do what they have to do in order to make a living, as long as they're not violating any international law. On the other hand, Japan is definitely being way too lenient towards this issue. A bunch of nut cases they are.

I'm not very moved by the whole "save the dolphins" thing, personally. I fail to see how or why they merit any more protection than any fish in the sea, or mammals on the land, which we harvest for food.
