Vietnam aims for an industrialised status by 2020

Vice Minister of Planning and Investment Truong Van Doan said Vietnam's GDP per capita should reach more than US$5,000 per year to qualify Vietnam as an industrialised country by 2020. Economic restructuring should help create conditions for industry to account for 45-50 percent of GDP, services 40-50 percent and agriculture 10 percent.

Personally, I think Viet Nam should develop an alliance with Japan and Korea so the three nations can assist each other. The alliance of JKV has a population of about 300 million people.

100,000,000 Japanese
100,000,000 Koreans
100,000,000 Vietnamese

If the 100,000,000 Cantonese can join this alliance, then it should create equilibrium between JK (Japan Korea) and CV (Canton Vietnam).

When we want something, we need to develop a plan and present it to our partners.

Taiwanese does not have similar population compared to Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, and Vietnamese.

I think that's impossibe when Vietnam doesn't have competitive products to sell in the international market.

Selling shoes, clothes, coffee and seafood wouldn't bring Vietnam to $5000 mark.

Also, it's good if Vietnam able to double its income in 10 yrs from $1000, to $2000.

5X times in 10 yrs. No way Jose.

This is sad! It's going to take Vietnam about 20 years to catch up to the current state of Malaysia in terms of GDP per capita. If only the Viet commies lost the war with America than maybe Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam would be on par with other developing nations with per capita's over 5k. icon_sad.gif

You make some good points. However, you need to understand that Vietnam's symbolic animal is a turtle, which does things very slowly. It took Dai Viet over 1,000 years to get rid off the Northerners and another 100 years to get rid off the Westerners. It will also take Viet Nam another 100 years (2,000-2,100) to achieve developed status.

The Malaysians may be richer but they are not good and tough fighters in wars.
