What're ur fav channel/show(s)?
I love the National Geographic Channel!
*I esp like the "locked up abroad" series about ppls experience- seems mostly British or American- being locked up abroad for sometimes years....seems mostly for drug trafficking.... fasinating, some of the hell these ppl went through!lol I hope they'll document the Laura Ling/Euna Lee experience in North Korea someday, I think lot of ppl would be interested...
*Most recent specials were- "the girl with 8 limbs" about a two yr old girl in India born with eight limbs- four which she could claim were hers and fully functioning, the other four on the bottom of her body along with the tiny torsel it came with were the result of what's known as a parasitic twin- a twin that never developed and attached to her. A lot from her village believed she was Lakshmi- the Hindu goddess with eight limbs and revered her and of course didn't see a medical problem. Even though the girls name was Lakshmi born after the goddess, in truth others inc her parents didn't see her as a diety and was concerned for her health and future and wanted her to have a normal life. So the show journeys her diagnosis by the doctors and surgery. Fortuneately the operation, which was rare enough, was a success (parasitic twin cases are extremely rare and the formation she had perhaps even moreso). You might have even heard of her already considering she got a lot of publicity for it at least in India.
-"the girl who cries blood"- the only case known- a 14 yr old girl (also from India) spontaneously bleeds blood from her head, face, hands, sometimes other parts (like neck I believe)..... there is no pain- maybe a sting here or there at times but not anything bad... after she bleeds and washes it off (and they actually showed this) there is absolutely no sign that anything has happened and she has bled; no scars, marks, cuts, anything..... fasinating... the show chronicles her and her mom looking for answers from religion of different faiths inc Hinduism and Catholicism to new age medicine.... none were found.... finally one of the foremost (American) doctors on pediatrics and blood pathology who was interested in the case flew to India to investigate it but couldn't come up with a medical/scientific explanation so had the audacity to propose perhaps her and the mother could be fabricating the whole thing and been making her bleed. The mother and child were rightfully upset with the doctor for this. Here the show abruptly ends with no answers for her case. Very interesting.
"the girl with 8 limbs" will be on again Sun. Sept. 20 at 1pm; and "the girl who cries blood" will be on Tue. Sept 15 at 9pm.
