i'd like to think that in one way or another i'm living a meaningful life, otherwise i shouldn't be here at all...
the fact that i spend most of my nights preparing for my lessons the next day so i can impart something important and useful to my students is 'meaning' enough for me. i don't expect my life to be as profound and big but the thought that a small, yet significant effort of mine is helping the humanity is enough for me to believe that life has meaning. not everyone has a kid, a wife, or a parent to live for so they try to hang on to something that would motivate them to go on.

Simple. For an action to have meaning it should accord to my desires. Living viewed as an action - or 'life' as you call it - would have meaning if it's because I desire to do so. And since no one looks, thinks or behaves exactly the same it would mean that we are unique. People are the same as snow flakes. They are all alike in some way, but none are exatly the same.

we are animals, we are unique to other animals, but we have our own meaning for living.

What makes us unique is our individual consciousness
Each person is different from the one before and yet is so similair

Go on dates ... have sex ... get married ... have children ...

Yes, animals are unique too. There are no two animals exactly the same. But unlike human beings, they do not live life because of a perceived meaning, they live because of habits and instincts. They do not do things because they can understand something, like the knowledge that they desire it, they do it because they simply desire it. It's the difference between seeing something, and seeing that you see something. You have to be able to do the latter for there to be meaning with your actions.

And no, I don't know that song. There are no meaning with rocks and plants. Well not unless someone created and placed them there.
