ULAN BATOR, Sept. 30 -- A special concert was held on Wednesday afternoon at Mongolia's Music and Dance College to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
Q. Naranhu, head of the college, said during the show: "China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors with their lands closely connected by mountains and waters; and the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia is located just next door to our college."
"The concert, well prepared by our teachers and students, is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China," he said.
Attending the concert, Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Yu Hongyao spoke highly of the performance, which included Mongolian traditional "long tune" folk songs, erhu solos of music that are brimmed with Mongolian people's love of the immense grassland.
"Cultural exchanges between China and Mongolia have been strengthened in recent years, with more and more Mongolians learning Chinese and studying in China now," Yu said.
"There is also an increasing number of Chinese language teachers who volunteer to teach here. More Chinese students also come to study in Mongolia," the ambassador said, adding that, in the college alone, there are now more than 20 Chinese students.
