Several people here help me a lot with my diet situation - I lost 20 LB in 5 months and still losing more - so I'll include the basics of what they said and add a thing of my own.

1) Calculate your calorie intake. Your shooting in the dark unless you clearly know how much calories your boby needs to maintain its current weight. This number depends on height, sex, age, amount you exercise. There are websites that calculate it for free. They usually calculate three numbers, how much calories a day allowed to stay your weight, how much calories to loss weight slowly, and how much calories allowed a day to loss weight rapidly(not a good idea). Once you know how much calories your allowed, then you have to say in bound. Counting calories isn't really that hard. The trick is to convert the number of calories into meal portions like one vegetable, one fruit, or one meat. Go to a diet website to find out how. Since there are many, you'll have a choice of different explanations and methods - I can't give a good explanation in a short thread. Just point you in the right direction.

2) Cut out all junk food, soda, coffee, oil, fat, butter, salt, and sugar. Small amounts of olive oil or canola oil are good for you( 1 table spoon a day total). Green tea is good for you. Fruit and fruit juice are nutritious but full of calories. Realistically, 1 glass fruit juice =1 can soda + vitamin pill.

3) A good basic diet that is extremely healthy, doesn't strain our body and helps you loss the maximum weight is a high vegetable diet( fruits don't count as vegetables. neither do onions, potatos or corn).

The ratio is: 1 protien 1 carb 2 bulk fiber
Protien is meats( fish ,beef, chicken pork etc..) tofu, beans etc..
carb is rice, bread, wheat, corn, potato etc..
bulk fiber is vegetables like green beans lettuce, carrots, squash tomatoes, broccoli etc..

Here is an example:
Take a plate that can hold the proper camount of food for you and mentally divide it into four parts. Into one spot, place no more meat than can fit in that quarter - say 1 thigh of chicken or 1 small hamburger patty. The next quarter gets carbs- say 1/3 cup of rice or one slice of bread. Last, 1/2 the plate is vegatables, say 2/3 cup of boiled green beans and 1/2 a raw cucumber sliced up. There that's your meal. Depending on your size and calories, you might eat three meals a day or up to six times with a meal, snack, meal ,snack, pattern. The point is to eat a lot of small portions rather than stress your body by eating large meals and waiting long times between meals.

I hope this helps you as others helped me. beerchug.gif
