PHILIPPINES.

This is the land of nearly 7,107 islands. People are very friendly. But some areas of this country are not recommended for traveling like North Cotabato, Mindanao, Zamboanga peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi and the Sulu archipelago. Apart from robberies and kidnappings there are other threats as well. Local people mix drugs in the drinks of the visitors which can make them unconscious in minutes. Some cases are reported where the tourists not only lose their wealth and also lose their body parts like kidneys.

well, that's according to the blogger's opinion based on what he's been reading on the internet embarassedlaugh.gif

common sense lang yan... if your idea of island hopping is in Basilan or the Sulu islands then you are looking for trouble.

FYI, according to the bloggers, may mga chekwa rin sila dun. they even have chinese temple. so i think even chinoy, chavacano, and all sorts of pinoys, even balikbayans will be ok there.

maraming military dun. so its unlikely that even a foreigner will be kidnapped.

juskopo. puro negatibong propaganda. sa totoo lang, may karapatan tayong mga pilipino na mag-travel dun. it is our birthright to explore our beautiful and diverse nation. kung ganyan talaga ka-dangerous ang area an yun di pinatay o kinidnap na sana si christian bautista when he was making a video for his tawi-tawi love song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XKeGHXcE78

it is so beautiful. we cannot, i repeat... WE CANNOT SUCCUMB TO THE THREAT of kidnappers or wrongdoers. napakaganda even in pictures. paano pa kaya in person. before i am old & buried i want to see the glories of mindanao. sa awa naman ng diyos it will happen.

It's more of an advisory. Wag muna sa ngayon pupunta dun kasi magulo pa, Alam mo bang merong kidnapped Irish priest na naman ngayon?

http://www.gmanews.tv/story/174861/fr-sinn...t-us-govts-help

magsisimula pa lang ang painstaking negotiations and intelligence gathering.. w/c will take months.. Foreign priests / missionaries na ang puntirya ngayon kasi wala na silang makuhang tourists.

Of course, yung bloggers they will do anything para i-promote province nila. Ok naman cguro kung kapwa pinoy lang... pero not advisable talaga sa foreigners.

Malamawi Island in Basilan is beautiful.

Tawi Tawi actually is not as bad as Basilan and Sulu. Sulu and Basilan has lots of mountains making them safe haven for terrorists.

Tawi-Tawi's terrain and size and population density cannot sustain guerilla style of warfare for long periods.

Just because the Philippines isn't on the list doesn't mean it's not in the top 62. The Philippines was obviously excluded because I find it really hard to believe that Japan has a higher murder rate than the Philippines

Of course these expats glorify the philippines, one of the few places in the world where a rusted baggy pile of bones can sleep with girls young enough to be their daughters or even worse granddaughters. These girls with these old bag of bones, are only with them because they were in a desperate situation and this fossil offered them an escape. Don't be fooled, by the charms - In reality Filipinos make fun of foreigners, talk smack about them behind their back. Most of you guys that have girlfriends here , but go back to the states. Your girlfriends have filipino boyfriends & they are being supported by YOU.

No wonder it's dangerous. It's the presence of the Americans that make it dangerous. Islamic Pinoys hate them. They get provoked at the sight of them.

He does seem to be exaggerating things a bit but there is also truth to what he's saying. Lol.

feeling ko ay bitter sya. he is angry & dissillusioned kasi narealize nya na ubos na ang pera nya. yes... pinagsamantala sya ng pamilya ng wife nya but he deserve it kasi salbahe sya. bastos ang ugali at matapobre.

Not sure how you figured that but if you read what he says in the comments he sounds like a good guy. He obviously came to the Philippines without much of a clue of how it would be like to live in the country and was caught off guard. I shouldn't have said there is a "bit" of truth to what he said because there is actually a lot of truth to it. embarassedlaugh.gif

oo nga. marami syang sinanasabi na totoo. pero guest lang sya sa pinas.

at saka bakit napili nya pang tumira sa angeles city? YUCK!

bat hindi nalang sa ortigas o makati. cheap, white trash, backpacker ang mentality ng lalaking iyan. and he's good by the virtue of putting a roof over his wife & kid's head? gimme a break.

e kung ganun sana ginawa nalang akong santa nung pumunta akong indonesia becoz not once ako nagcomplain sa laki ng mga ipis nila at ang basura nilang tinatapon sa dagat at sa likod ng bakod ng mga hotels. u know why i dont complain? coz im not an @$$hole. may diskarte ako. may respeto ako sa mga tao dahil alam ko na guest lang ako sa bansa nila. therefore, im on my best behavior.

yun lang.

Considering how long he's been in the country he's not a guest anymore.

Don't know why he chose to live in Angles City but it's not like living in Ortigas or Makati means you won't see any cockroaches or rats running through your kitchen. Most of what he wrote about can happen in any city.

In my opinion staying to take care of your wife and kid when you hate the place you are and can leave anytime, does make you a good person. Taking care of another man's kid when you don't have to gives you more points in my book. Trying to help out your wife's poor relatives when you don't have much to give is pretty nice also. Saying that he wants to set up an organization to protect children in third world countries from sexual predators, I agree doesn't make him a good person. That is until he actually does it.

We don't know if he is b!tching to everyone in the Philippines about how much he hates it there. I don't think he could be and still be alive. He wrote the post to let other foreigner's know what it's like in Philippines. He didn't talk about the nice beaches you can go to like everyone else focuses on but what he said isn't any less true, granted there is a bit of exaggeration. By the way I consider telling the truth as another virtue of a good person.

Ignoring all the problems around you doesn't make you a good person. Millions of Filipinos do it every day and I assure you nothing good is coming out of it.
NeoVxR
life as an expat is probably more about social skills than about being a good person. this would be so for almost every country.

this guy needs to create his own environment and kapwa, and motivate the people around him to show their good sides. also he needs to know the key persons in his city, and achieve their respect or at least tolerance.
otherwise he will have no backing in case of problems. he must know how lusot works, and how to manage it.

I think this is a compilation, to warn naive people. there is no real paradise. just sometimes the place where we can live in better harmony is not where we have been born. but then we must find it and create something good there. this guy is not describing harmony. so where can he find it and does he know his problem in the first place? he may be in the same condition like many natives he is critical about, - his initial reason is economic because his money is worth a lot in this place.

what would make me worry, is when police don't bust obvious crime. this will frighten away foreign investment, because you are likely to see attacks and unfriendly competition. then who will help?
result is only big companies with experience about organized crime and ability for robust self-protection will give it a try. this is not the best choice for national development.
again a problem in many countries.

is there an official roadmap for quality immigration?
I think there is a lot of compatibility in the hearts (e.g. christian belief) but some disturbing difference in the procedure.
what about a "seed" of europeans with the skill to create and maintain small and mid-scale businesses, to compete the chinese business people? not to see them negative, but for some change in the balance.
they would integrate, be happy and create jobs. but it takes kind of an educational and coaching program on both sides. I had this idea because a. the OFW structure could afford a counterbalance, and b. there are some people in europe who have potential to NOT be like the beer-veranda-veteran expats but want to interact with a different culture and do something creative. they are just shy because it is difficult without organized help. the MOB seekers OTOH found lots of "help". so it is a bit of a structural thing.
