I shown this picture to my mother and she said, it is called a Bi.
The story behind the Bi. When a child is born, a Bi necklace is given to the child for protection.
It is to protect the child from spirits and dragons (Zaj). According to a folklore, my mother told me that long ago, a child was playing
down the river bed and a river dragon came out of the water but the dragon could not see the child. If the child did
not wear the Bi necklace, it would have been eaten.
My mother said the Bi made the child invisible to the dragon. She said the purpose of the Bi is to protect a body and soul.
This is why on our clothes, we love to put hundred of Bi (coins) on them, especially on kids' clothes because they are easy to be harmed
by spirits and dragons. During festivals, Miao/Hmong people like to dress in coins and silvers, because they blind the eyes of spirits and dragons
who are looking for wives and husbands.

Respected Miao Chinese Professor Chen Jing as well as a general, who served along Mao Zedong
concluded that Liangzhu is a Miao civilization. The ancient traditions, cultures, arts, clothes and etc.. of
the Liangzhu people correlate with the Miao culture.
