Wow this is kinda like the video "Americans are not stupid" where a video posted all the dumbasses they found, and erased those that are actually smart, to generalize that Americans are stupid. NOT only is this video set in different circumstances: first two was in privacy of all Filipino born in the Philippines eg the classroom and on in the bedroom, whiel the other out in the American public university...

Of course also given the fact that perhaps these people are different, grew up when they were small in an inclusive society as AMerica rather than brought up in enclaves where Filipinos tend to bunch up together...I mean you didn't make notice that the Thai guy, or the Chinese, Koreans, black and other Asians in that video ACT LIKE those Filipinos you stereotyped.

People have different form of expressing cultural pride...I'm not going to act like a FOB to prove how much I know or love my culture. That's just shallow, be who you are.

I didn't watch the Saudi and Japan clip but I have seen the one in Cali. I don't think that they are culturally confused. This is coming from a fil-am myself. I was born in the Philippine's but moved here to the states at a very young age. I moved back to the Philippines for a year and a half, a time that I actually remembered as opposed to being a baby. Anyways, if you have ever been to Cali that's how it is. Even in Seattle, the Filipino's have the same style. It's how some people talk, walk, act. It's their "swag." The time's we're growin up in over here is our culture. I honestly find the way they are acting normal. Call me culturally confused, but I still know where I come from. Just remember things are different wherever you go. I see ton's of Pinoy rapper's and Rnb singer's, so by your logic they would be culturally confused.

That's the mainstream thing right now in the US, & they will follow it like many other Americans
seriously just turn on TV or the radio. & ethnic minorities tend to follow urban culture more since most minorities lives in urban areas

pretty biased, you cant compare, US borns & PI born pinoys

I know some of the people in the 3rd video, I know they're all proud to be Filipino & the culture

ps. The guy in the 2nd video looks "confused" of his gender tho hahaha j/k

but what I don't get is this: What you gotta wear Filipino flags, listen to kundimans, speak Tagalog to show your Filipino spirit? LOL. The people on the second video was dancing to Korean pop songs how the fu-k is that Filipino?

It's not like the Filipinos in the third video said what sell outs and idiots are saying: We are Pacific Islanders, or Hispanic shenanigans you'd be hearing.

I go to clubs with Filipino friends and we just have fun. We make barbecues and play Texas Hold 'Em. We mostly talk in English because most of them are born here and speak most comfortably in English. No problem with that, none of them ever say what sell outs ever say or believe colonial mentality. Some of them are more expressive than I am, they all have Filipino flags on their cars, and although don't really like boxing watch Manny Pacquiao fights because he's Manny Pacquiao. I mean do we all have to act fobbish and OA just to be Filipino? That's fu-king shallow.

I mean I speak mostly in English with an American accent, I like to wear what normal Americans my age wear but I know more about Filipino history than most Filipinos here and in the Philippines know, I write tons of poems in Tagalog, and I follow Philippine politics. I guess in a world where external is much more powerful that really being, it is what it is.

I guess next time I'll wear some tacky clothes, a barong with Filipino flag shorts, speak only Filipino and carry a Filipino flag while dancing to same gay Korean pop songs to make me more Filipino.
salamat

Really the only one acting black in the video is the Thai guy. Most of the Filipinos aren't acting black to me, and if you think that's acting black then you must not know many black people...

The Thai guy looks like a geek @$$ loser. I don't see why those people care that he's there.

On a another note, girls cussing a lot is not attractive. Maybe it's normal on the West Coast, but where I live it's considered trashy.

Now, I am confused. I thought one of the beauties of a democratic government is that you are free to do what you like. I assume you are a Fil-am who doesn't like gangsta rap and doesn't speak in ebonics. Unless there is a committee knocking on your door telling you how you should act as a Fil-am I don't see why you would feel forced to like gangsta rap and talk in Ebonics. As they say. "it's a free country". You don't need to follow the crowd.

I doubt any of the people who were in the video were forced to act that way. They dress and act how they like.

Ok. embarassedlaugh.gif
Don't worry though eventually most people grow out of the peer pressure thing after high school.
As for those who assume you like rap just because you are Filipino are only stereotyping. No need to pay attention to them.

So is hiphop. They're in touch with what's going on in the Philippines too. I mean all this talk of "cultural confusion" the examples are people dancing to Western bubble gum pop made in Korea. Lol.

They are the type? I don't know them, it may well be, but I've been around the Filipino community to know that there are FOB's who do that. How long have you been in this forum? Tell me you haven't heard 'tards Flips from all sorts of background making the stupidest claims, I mean a lot of them are in the Philippines...some in Australia and UK. Lol

But how do we know they don't speak Filipino? I speak fluent Tagalog but because I speak fluent English most people don't think I do. Plus to all the comment of "black accent" jeez, do you guys go out at all? I've never heard them say the n words, a lot of folks, white, black, latinos, other Asians, etc. speak like this, it's not 'gangster' or 'black' it's just urban talk. I mean you don't talk bad if a Filipino speak like a whitey, or if they have Australian accent or, British accent...it shows the colonial mentality against black culture but it's okay if it's white. Lol. Ain't that true?

at least it's 'Asian'? Lol It's not Filipino and it's not our culture, does that mean they're all confused? First, I'm fine with them dancing K pop or whatever . In fact in my opinion you can dance whatever you like, you'e simply being yourself. It's not like you dance to Billy Jean or Black Eyed Peas, you're telling the world "I'm black"...You're just dancing for Christ's sakes! When you speak with an accent it's not a statement of "I'm black" nor if you speak with any accent.

What are we suppose to do? Live like fobs, talk like fobs, speak with a Filipino accent, watch only TFC, hate on other races just to be Filipinos? Ain't that shallow? We live in different places, work, live, friends with, exist with different cultures, etc that's our fate because we are people in an exodus. We live in different places, with other people's culture, standards, etc. There's nothing wrong, it's our choice for moving there, the problem is this: When you voluntarily give up the identity of being Filipino, which in my opinion these people are doing the opposite of.

Am I the only one who thinks we're making a fuss out of this?
