The difference between American English and British English is no greater than that of Taiwanese mandarin and Chinese mandarin.
Minor differences in vocabulary, for example Taiwanese say 印表機 and mainland Chinese say 打印機。
Lmao, that's ridiculous. Do you know how hard it is to build a new language from scratch and teach it to a whole population? "Taiwanese mandarin" and "mainland mandarin" differs less than dialects between various region in China, such as Wuhan vs. Beijing.

There is no so called Taiwanese language which is a Chinese dialect , Minnan dialect of Fujiang Province, south east China.
Taiwan used to try every possible way to deny it or cut its roots from mainland during the administration of Chen shuibian and now some of them are restored by Ma yingjeou again. That is the way of Taiwan, destroying something by the old government and rebuilding by the proceeding one since the general public pay the bill and the officials don't even have to think about where the money come from by doing so. That is partially why Taiwan is on the decline .

Even at your death beds, you kmt will never see Taiwan join any other nation. Ma has been elected, and he don't dare mention the word "unify" in any of his speeches. He will never be invited to china. Hu will never visit Taiwan.
All the government departments are still named Taiwan. and the former Jiang kai sheck emeorial, is currently named "freedom court". Change by Chen, and Ma is too afraid to change it back.
