Ralf

Following on from her success in the USA, Malaysian chanteuse Zee Avi will be performing in Australia at various venues along the east coast.
To kick off her tour, she will return to her home town Kuala Lumpur and then Singapore for some gigs, and finally make her debut on the Australian live scene.
Notably she will be taking part in the surf culture, arts and music festival called The Happening. At first I could not figure out the connection, but it turns out that Chris Malloy, pro surfer, filmmaker and founder of this festival, is the cousin of Emmett Malloy who runs Brushfire Records - Zee Avi's label.

Please come along and support Zee Avi.
It is rare to see Malaysian bands touring Western lands.
The SE Asian music scene is under-represented and often neglected by the major labels, so this is a chance to show that there is an international audience for rising Asian stars. beerchug.gif

This is exciting! I will try to make it to the event at Bondi. I hope she enjoys performing In Australia, and that lots of people turn up to support her!

Maybe she might even sing the Milo Song for my sister and I! biggrin.gif I'll request it. lol

I'll only be able to make one show here, but I'll spread the word around a bit. icon_smile.gif Is her tour being promoted? I haven't seen anything.

Oh, that is so cool! I'm really happy for Zee Avi. It's hard for Malaysians to break through the international scene, and I'm glad Zee Avi made it. I hope you'll enjoy her shows; I really enjoyed her songs. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to make it to any of her Malaysian tours as I'm pretty much waist-deep in my studies now.

Just to let you know her song 'Just You and Me' was used as the soundtrack for Oliver Peoples' eyewear campaign, starring Elijah Wood and Shirley Mason.

I always wanted to get my mother one of those groovy Audrey Hepburn sunglasses by Oliver Goldsmith, but my mum was horrified by the price and joked that she would banish me if I ever wasted so much money on buying sunnies for her.

I have only seen online promotions for the Zee Avi tour.
The Happening website has details about Zee Avi, and the individual venue websites also have info about her.
I've been emailing the Espy to generate a bit of a buzz.
Neither the Asian nor the English language street press have mentioned anything about Zee Avi.
As it gets closer to the dates, I'm sure Ozip, Qita, Buset, InPress and Beat magazines will contain the usual press release stuff.
