About 2-3 for me for regular classes. Sometimes I have classes that I take a particular interest in and do more work than required and I'll put an extra 4-6 hours per week for that.
Cumulus
Lately (meaning the last couple of weeks) 4-6 hours. Before that... less than 1 hour. I'm not suited for academics.
YiTao
It really depends on the situation.
PhatThai
Mostly 1-2 hours.

If I have an exam for a really hard class like honors bio or calc, I study at least 8 hours the day before. Other than that, I study for about 4-6 hours a day. icon_confused.gif

I wish I was not as lazy as studying as you guys. When I was in school, I would study some days and other days I won't. But the average is 1-2 hours with facebook, myspace, youtube distractions.

depend on certain week and certain class.

some class, i don't even study. some class that is very hard, i will study very hard.

some week, i spend the whole week studying until 9pm-6am or until i fall asleep. of course, there's break in between. =p

my study habit is reading book, watch documentary of that subject, while drinking and turn on minimal low music in background while locking myself up in the room. basically that what u need to do to avoid being your households from bothering u.
Aristotle
never.

studying is for nerds and the incompetents that must put in the extra effort just to get by.

I saaay 4-6 hours, but that includes distractions lol. The few days before an exam I revise most of the day however. coffee.gif

I work better under pressure. In other words, I become very focused on the day before the due date. During the week before, I become somewhat focused. If the due date is more than a week away, I probably don't think about the work much.

One thing about engineering is that you will probably end up working to the very last minute even if you did not procrastinate. As a result, I somewhat improved on my time management skills during college.

Here is how you can be better focused:
- Get rid of high-speed Internet. This makes Youtube videos unwatchable which eliminates part of the distraction. You just have to worry about Facebook and online forums.
- Get some coffee. Half a cup is enough to give me energy regardless of how little sleep I get.
- Don't have a TV in the room.
- Don't study on a soft chair or cushion. You will fall asleep.
- Ignore the little problems that can be fixed later.

- Don't hesitate to ask professors, TAs, and classmates for help understanding the material. No sense in staring at a problem for hours.

Here is another one to prevent yourself from falling asleep. Turn on a laptop next to you because the bright screen makes you less sleepy.

I use to be part of this program where they make you study half a day doing exercises. But later on when I was no long part of the program I just read. It that count as studying maybe not.

Technically I don't study until right before an exam.

Right before an exam, I study for 1-3 hours.
NVNA
I... fail at studying "O...TL

2-3 hours when there's an exam/final. not total though, like an hour on diff. subjects.
but I easily forget what I study. [/major FAIL]

1 hour and less other times >_<

Wow, some school you go to. I guess school does give you something, maybe not a lot but enough to go somewhere.

My study habits are horrible. I only study right before a test but I do do homework. I hardly ever read my books either. icon_confused.gif

My professor just emailed everyone about a homework assignment that will take about 4 to 5 hours. I guess I can't do all of it the night before.

i currently study about 2 hrs a day for all my classes. it is best to set up a study plan around your classes. i tend to go to class and then find a quiet spot at the library or my dorm and chill out and study for and hr or two and balance the class load. this helps a lot if you want to make good grades.
i would say 10 - 16 hrs a week this would leave you some time to sleep and socialize at parties;)
