Seriously though all I know is that the latest fighterjet that the Philippines has is an F-14. We need f-16s and Sukhois if we intend to keep up with the rest of SEAsia militarily though.

Okay, I am sorry to say this, but it seems some of you don't know anything about the Philippine military.

Fil-am, the Philippines has no F-14. And the PAF has no money to buy F-16. The latest jet that the Philippines has in its inventory are the F-5A/B, but since these have been grounded ever since 2002 when one of the plane crashed in Pampanga that killed its pilot, this mean the Philippines has no operational jets.

Those planes that they use to bomb the terrorists, are mostly OV-10 Broncos and the MG-520 attack helicopter.

Don't get me wrong, but the PAF pilots have been dreaming to fly those F-15s, F-16s, F-18, Su-30s MIG29, Kfir, Mirage, and even the upgraded F-5E, but like I said, they have no money. Because mostly the money goes in the pocket of corrupt officers, one of them is General Garcia (hope he rots in hell)

Where are the Communist rebels that occupied the Philippines military during Marcos era?

Are they evolve into MILF?

Are the Communist rebels and MILF just a cash cow for the military? (i.e. Central and South American countries cash cow used to be the Communist.)

uh uh. MILF would not come from the Commies/NPA and the commies would not turn into MILF. Why?

cuz MIlF is Muslim "nationalism", like PLO merged with Hamas all in one. it would not come from Communism, because one advocates Islamism, the other hates all religion altogether.

south american rebels were cash crops because they were drug farmers, ie NARC is pseudo Communist.

NPA have some roots from the HUK, rebels who did fought against the Japanese, but did not disband and became anti government troops, mostly in the northern and central luzon mountains. i think NPA's have spread all throughout the islands. MILF operate mostly in Mindanao.

the New People's Army(NPA) is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines(CPP) bent on turning RP into a people's republic(communist). anyway, MILF which is Moro Islamic Liberation Front has another agenda. it is focused on creating a Muslim state out of the Philippines' southern part which is Mindanao. clearly different ideologies but specifically the same agenda, the destruction of the Philippine government.

How did the prev admin be able to control the MILF or pre-MILF movement. Why the sudden rise in Islamic fundamental movement in PI. Is it like in Indonesia after the fall of Suharto?

I've also notice here something new... the "malay brotherhood" in PI? If i'm not mistaken, "malay brotherhood" is not so secret term to get racial support for the cause of Indonesia/Malaysia religious zealots.

^Malay brotherhood, Arabic brotherhood it's all the same. What binds them isn't it though in my opinion, i think Islamism in general.

Also Islamic Nationalism in the PI is not new. The "Bangsa Moro" struggle/movement is probably one of the oldest in the world, especially PI's been one of the earliest colonized Asian country.

As for Islamism movement in general, it's not a surprise. It's not new it's been going on since after WW2. And now that the Cold War is over, the victor, the West, have to contend with the once contained shadowed conflict, "Islamic Nationalism" and conservativism, which is a reaction one to their religious beliefs and culture, and two the political institutions that let them hold this.

It's just so happened that New Radicals as al Qaeda have prompted "pseud-organization" linking them together. But the truth is their not. I mean if they were, the whole islamic world would be one by now. the truth of the matter is they are all "Muslims" (i don't really consider alot of these murderers are, I know many Muslims and they do not condone such hatred) but they really are all for different goals: Mindanao for MILF, Jemaah Islamiyah parts of Indonesia, recent Chechen for Chechnya, etc...

people like the MILF use religion as a means to a separate state since most islamic states are united in the sense that State and Church has no boundaries unlike other nations. i think MILF has been on a 25 year separatist movement already. it's kinda sad

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is holding a peace talk with the government of the Philippines, but there are some MILF members harboring Jemaah Islamiyah. The MILF can deny any ties with the JI, but to prove their sincerity is a different story. A few days ago, MILF members killed 4 government militia, so I am not really sure if the MILF is really sincere about the peace talk. They're probably just talking peace talk with the government, but behind the government's back, they're strengthening and arming their members.

MILF wants a separate state for Mindanao, but this probably will not going to happen because the Christians, which are the majority in Mindanao, would oppose it.

This was also the ambition of the MNLF, but the MNLF signed a cease-fire with the government.

Jemaah Islamiyah's goal is to make an Islamic states that compose of Mindanao (Philippines), Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Southern Thailand.
