Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a very good movie. It's probably the best videogame-to-movie conversion I've ever seen, although that's not saying much given how bad a lot of other videogame-based movies have been.

I did find the Prince of Persia movie slightly predictable though, due to the fact that I had already completed the original videogame it's based on (also called Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time). This made the final twist in the movie somewhat predictable for me, though some of my friends who had not played the game found the ending pleasantly surprising.

The only other issue (though only a minor one) is that Jake Gyllenhaal didn't actually look like a Persian/Iranian slum kid, though this would have been possible if they gave him a tan (but they probably thought they didn't need to, considering that Jake is half-Jewish and therefore of partly Middle-Eastern heritage).

they should have gotten that dude from lost to be the prince.

^ Sayid! You know what's funny, I think he actually resembles Jake Gyllenhaal, but obviously is darker. It's the long nose and mouth area. He would have been good for the role icon_smile.gif

Going to the cinema tomorrow but not sure which film to watch now! Was either this or Robin Hood hmmmm.

Although Naveen Andrews (a.k.a. Sayyid), being a South Indian, could pass for a guy from Southern Iraq, he is somewhat darker than your average Persian/Iranian, so I'm not sure if his skin tone is the right one either.

Sound like a difficult decision, as both movies have pretty much gotten similar ratings at IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic. I haven't seen Robin Hood yet, so I can only recommend Prince of Persia, which is a really good movie.

It looks like it might be good, but I'm not rushing to see it. Why are the leads white? I just don't get it. And on top of it...why did they get a white American actor to play a Persian boy from the streets...and have him fake a posh British accent? confused.gif fu-king Hollywood. sure.gif
