Sucked seeing Fedor finally lose. Whatever he shoulda known better than to dive right into Werdum's guard. Werdum is easily one of the best BJJ grapplers in the world, playing in his guard is pretty much suicide.

I think Fedor would have lost a lot sooner if he went to the UFC. I've notice that all the Pride fighters do poorly against UFC fighters at least in their first few matches - Anderson Silva being the exception.

^ I don't. That big bum tim sylva and arlovski were the top heavyweights at the time. He already proved he could beat them. Why would it be different?

^tim sylva and arlovski are not good fighters in my book. Silva is a joke to MMA-its so bad, he has no fans. Dana Whites never letting him back in. Arlovski? Arlovski lost to Silva twice! Bad examples.
I'm thinking it has to do with the difference in system. Ring versus cage, drug test systems, fighting rules, and most importantly weigh-ins. I don't know why, but Pride fighters didn't cut weight like UFC fighters. So Pride fighters looked much smaller than their UFC opponents.
Pride fighters did better in UFC after say their 2~3 fight.
If Fedor came to UFC when Pride shut down, he would have fought Courture or Frank Mir. For me, that's a tough call. I like Fedor but I don't place him head and shoulders above the rest. In Fact, I thought Nogueira should have won the decision on their last fight in Pride. I place Nogueira and Fedor close on skill level and Nogueira had some notable losses in the UFC.

Combat Sambo has alot of knife-defense elements in its moves. kicks and takedowns are almost never used. Fedor's opening punches, if you notice, are always telegraphed, and done in combination with Judo throws or some wrestling in order to immobilize an opponent as quickly as possible. I've seen Fedor only kicked only once during his entire MMA career, and that was againsted Iron Head Fujita.

Shogun lost to Forrest in his first UFC fight, then started winning.
Jackson did win his early fights in UFC.
Strange the only Pride fighters that didn't have transitional problems were two top black fighters.

by your theory than most fighters are not doing well unless they are undefeated.
Shogun is the current lhw champ and rampage was a former champ imo both "transitioned well"
two top black fighters???????

No I'm saying Pride fighters need a transition period. One to two fights and they are good to go.
Shogun is Light Heavy weight champ now but he lost his first fight.
Jackson and Silva both won their first fights in UFC and have good records.
