Why have India people been maintaining Caste system?
I believe that is the chain ties elephant.

the elephant is the true king of 100 beasts.
Even the tiger will not suppose to interrupt free elephants way.
There is no suspectable, elephant has big big potential which is no comparable with other beasts.

However, stupid big elephant has been refusing unties the chain from their legs.

Pls let me know why India people want to keep the chain.

caste system is deeply ingrained in indian tradition and culture. You can't just get rid of it. It will take years to remove a tradition. You can't just wish it away.

Do you want to change it? Or want to maintain it?
I'd like to know the opinion of India people.

You cannot just change it, and the govt isn't helping the case either. I myself donot believe in castes, and it is really hard for me as my parents marriage was an inter-caste(although they both were kshatriya), inter-ligual language. There are many ppl who want to change it, but they are tied down with tradition. You will definitely not know the opinion of a billion ppl as even if 1% of indians want to maintain it, its a large large number.

The only way it can be removed in my opinion is to do it economically, by moving from socialist to capitalistic system. This was, money will be a evil thing rather than caste.

Its just an original tradition and culture form the Ancestors transfer to their next generation...I Believe that each nation has its own Traditional and cultural feature to believe and respect. But some other countries didnt have their own culture and tradition, they just COPy from another country to be their own.

The Caste Sytem is more of a social thing than a religious thing, as chronicled below by M. V. Nadkarni..........

QUOTE
M V Nadkarni writes:

"It is necessary to demolish the myth that caste system is an intrinsic part of Hinduism. This myth is believed by orthodox elements within Hinduism and also is propagated by elements outside Hinduism with the mischievous intent of proselytising. Even Vedic and classical Hinduism – not only does not support the caste system, but has taken lots of pains to oppose it both in principle and practice, making it obvious that caste system is not an intrinsic part of Hindu canon, philosophy and even practice.
It is only in the dharmashastras (dharma sutras and smritis) that we find support to the caste system, and not in other canon. However, dharmashastras never had the same status as other canon known as shruti (Vedas and Upanishads) and it is laid down that whenever there is a conflict between the shruti and smriti literature, it is the former that prevails. It is Manusmriti, which is particularly supportive of caste system but where it conflicts with Vedas and Upanishads, the latter would prevail. Though Bhagvadgita (Gita) is not regarded as a part of shruti, Gita is highly regarded as sacred and is very much a part of classical Hinduism. As we shall just see even the Gita is against caste system based on birth, and not supportive to it. Thus, to the extent that dharmashastras conflict with shruti and the Gita, the latter prevails. Apasthambha dharmasutra may have supported untouchability, but it seems to be read more by those who like to attack Hinduism with it than by its followers! It is hardly regarded as canon, even if any Hindu has heard of it.  Vedanta philosophy declares that there is divinity in every lecture. Rg Veda emphasises equality of all human beings. It goes to the extent of saying, which sounds quite modern: ‘No one is superior, none inferior. All are brothers marching forward to prosperity’ "

I wonder how Indian democracy works when a large portion of people know they are deliberately discriminated. Would they vote against it or they happily accept it?

Interesting how some yellow people here like to talk about caste system when they have their own racial hirarchy system in their own nations regarding skin colour, race obcession, xenophobia, prejudice, worhshipping white people and have disdain towards interacial marriages... take care of your own mess first cool30.gif

Huh there's no problem in caste system as long as the people can be rich even for their low caste status.
