Right now I'm 4,000 miles over my oil change. Is that normal?

Normal ... I would say it happens to a lot of lazy people.

However, by not doing that oil change, you will shorten the service life of your vehicle.
Please spend the time to go to your oil change place and pay the guy to do it for you.
Your car will run longer and with less problems.

I know this White Dude came to my SHOP, asking 4 help caz his Oil was leaking all over, even after the premium Oil Change by the Brand Name Lube Company down the block.

Later found out, the dude over there didn't even bother tight up the drainplug, and/or the filter, luckily he stop over or his engine could just have been freeze.

It happens sometimes but you could also forget to tighten the drain plug.
Then you would only have yourself to blame.
Still, I prefer to go to the oil change guy and have them do it, especially in the winter.
Since I don't have a nice warm garage .. it is easier to pay a guy a few more dollars and stay nice and warm
Also, it saves on bruised knuckles ... lol

Oil Change won't never harm any part of your body, not even your knuckle, ankle, toe, arm, hand, or anything. (the car gotta be cool off prior to the Draining Procedure, nonetheless.)

I'm pretty skeptical about how they do on my car, they tend to do things to the Oil Change's Clients really reckless. I guess that what make me to start doing it on my own.

New Beemer don't even have to undergo the Oil Change, they got their own Engine'sn synthetic Oil Recycling on its own. Wholesome... aren't it?

I dont change the oil in my car, i just take it to service center when the car is due for a service and they will do it for you.

It sounds great to do all the work on your car yourself
But, who has all that time???
When I was younger, I would take car of all that ... change brake pads and sometimes rotors
changed the radiator when over heating, changed the distributor when the cotter (pin holding the assembly together) busted
changed water pump, battery(s), even diagnose fuel problems (throttle body fuel injection), and a bunch of other things
most young people don't know about cause the technology has changed.

Now, I'm too busy to even move the car for alternate side of the street parking.

No Kidding, the contemporary technology's much complex. However, all you need is just updated tools mainly computerized base devices.

Believe you me, young kids these days aren't far behind, thanks to the Google, people could just fix anything upon the proper instruction ONLINE.

As of the Matter of fact, Haven't no time relocating your car to the other side of the street doesn't constitute nothing but an excuse. Though, I feel your pain getting a ticket, but nothing we can do but to be compliance with the city's ordinances.

Modern cars are made to go around 7,500 miles between oil changes, despite mechanic recommendation of 3K miles.
You should be ok for "normal" driving habit.

If you go beyond the recommended mileage for oil change in a new car
Then you might void warranties if any problems pop up later
But, yeah, what you said is true

i get it changed after every 3,000 miles. Its a 94 and I want to keep some life in her

I drove my car about a year
without changing the oil and the engine seized up on me. one of the pistons went through the engine block. it sounded like a bomb.

Safe rule of thumb is 4 times a year. Do that with a car that gets only moderate mileage and you get a car that's going to last a long long time.

Thats pretty bad....
I change my own oil during summer time only haha Its really quick and easy...
But If the weather is bad or i cannot borrow Jack and stands from someone I just take it to the oil changing people when the sticker tells me to do so... or at the worst 1K over what the sticker tells me to do.
