Does anyone know how you can become a Khmer citizen??

I was born in Battambang, Cambodia. Like many Khmers, my family left Cambodia after 1979, when I was a baby. We got to America when I was a toddler. I than became an American citizen after my eighteenth birthday. I would like to know if anyone here knows how one can become a Khmer citizen after holding an American citizenship.

Can we hold dual citizenship? and if so, how can I become a Khmer citizen?

Please advise if anyone know the process.

Thanks,

Jompa

I don't think you can be a citizen to two countries at the same time. Well, not that I know of.

Sure you can man beerchug.gif
Some countries allow it...like India.

Look here at Cambodia's dual nationality law:

QUOTE
DUAL NATIONALITY: Dual nationality is not prohibited under Cambodia's 1996 nationality law. In addition to being subject to all Cambodian laws affecting U.S. citizens, individuals who possess Cambodian nationality may also be subject to laws that impose special obligations on Cambodian citizens. For additional information, see the flyer on dual nationality on the Consular Affairs home page at  http://travel.state.gov .

Rules about United States & Dual Nationality:
