Read about Hmong fighters instead. I think they are stronger beerchug.gif
JB_Xyooj
Been doing that lately....just got done reading tragic Mountain by jame Hamliton biggthumpup.gif
good book too.....also showed how we Hmong kicked the japanese out of laos
華夏無產
I think that the Japanese absorbed a lot of American culture when they were occupied by the Americans after WW2. And now that they're kind of like the US's puppet in E asia, they also get special favors.

confused.gif I don't see Japan as a white rule nation. Have you been to Japan before and still thought this? Anime isn't even really Japanese, just to let those of you who think it is, know. Anime is the Japanese version of Disney, it really is, I'm not making this up.

Japan in comparison to other Asian countries is more advanced, tech and economic wise, and is more Western, but by no means is it a "white" nation. C'mon, Japan is a homogenous country, with Japanese people. All traditions and customs change through time and evolve, but Japan is still a very different country in many ways from a western country. I've traveled and lived there, so I speak from personal experience as well as from educational experience (reading, taking classes, working etc.).

JB_Xyooj: I think that you may just be seeing one of the stereotypes of Japan. Japan is still a proud nation. How is it not? Not all Japanese women prefer white men (again another stereotype that is untrue). The samurai way of life (bushido) is actually not a common way of living. It's supposed to be a way of life for the elite and upper classes that can afford to live this way. But it has become a common theme to mean what Japan and to be Japanese is because of several factors during wartime, creating goverment systems and etc., though I won't give you the whole history lesson here. I don't think you're a hypocrite, but maybe just not informed enough? confused.gif

I may not be Japanese ethnically, but I'm very proud of Japan in many respects and I do feel like I'm a part of the country, since I've spent so much time there and my fiance is Japanese and I'll be marrying into their culture and traditions.

Sorry about the long novel, but I had to defend Japan in some way biggthumpup.gif

LOL embarassedlaugh.gif2 funny..........true i guess.....when i meant bushido...i mean following code
such as being honorable following loyalty to your girl or family.....having heroic courage
being able to say hi to the girl you like...things like that

didn't mean i was gonna stab myself in the stomach and ask one of my friend
to behead me...LOL embarassedlaugh.gif

but from what i see......japan acts like a govorment puppet of america....as if
japan is the Hoe and america the pimp(don't be offended japanese people)
but dose it seem like that....that japan....has become a...let say

We hail america....in attacking Iraq.......sigh.......

i too respect japan.....but like us Hmong
the japanese was a puppet allie of the american

America don't give a damn about it's allie

Look at the Hmong In SE asia
look at the Northern alliance in Afghanastan

we too been deserted by america.....

sigh....too me proud japan aint no longer a country that is individual
or proud of itself....but a mere whore selling masses to the white man icon_sad.gif

You gotta admit, that if Japan in general isn't a so-called "white-nation", some of them are copying them to an obscene degree like anime-to-disney, that there's this odd feeling that they've become self-destructive or have a self-identity crisis. More so than any other Asian nation, probably cause they're still in a meiji mindset and that they're more modernized and high class.
Aoi_Zora
icon_confused.gif yah, I see your point JB_Xyooj. Unfortunately, small countries sometimes have to play follow the leader if they want to survive, even if it's only for a short time. That's just how it works sometimes, especially since Japan can't protect themselves, so they have to follow along to some extent what US says/does. icon_sad.gif
The US is too arrogant in many ways, because it can afford to be. Japan can't afford to lose US protection, not now. *sigh*

Sorry, I didn't mean bushido as in old style bushido in killing yourself icon_wink.gif either. Just that there are many kind of people within a culture, and stereotypes usually only depict a small ratio of that.
disnikkadirty
i wouldn't say japan is a white rule nation.. they're jus influenced alot by the white man!

funny, the stereotypical trademark of an Asiaphile is only knowing Japan for it's anime and samurai, and knowing nothing else of Japanese culture (other than J-Pop, J-Rock, and movies)

Anime are Japanese cartoons.
You saying that cartoons that are written in Japanese are not a product of Japan, or part of Japanese culture, is the equivalent of me saying that Disney is made in America, or part of American culture.
Even if you look down on anime, that does not make it any less Japanese.
You even admit that it is Japanese in your second sentence.

Every country has cartoons.
Not just America and Japan.
Are all nations copying Disney, then?
Or is it just the "white-washed puppet nation of America"? icon_confused.gif
Aoi_Zora
Shiro:

No, no, no icon_sad.gif I don't look down on anime. I never wrote that, please don't assume. I do like it. Sorry if I wasn't clear, what I meant was that anime isn't Japanese in origin. It is a Japanese product of course with it's own characteristics and is different from Disney, but it started as being the Japanese version (if you will) of what Disney cartoons were waaaaaay back. Influenced by their own perceptions, culture and etc. it has evolved to what it is today. (I saw a documentary about this in Japan and I also read news interviews in English about this......so I'm not making it up.) shrug.gif
If you noticed, I did put in that I was trying to defend Japan (doesn't mean that I'm blind about other aspects of Japan), and am proud of Japan in many ways, so in no way do I look down upon Japan or things considered Japanese.
sure.gif Maybe I should've know better than to post in this thread? oh well. icon_wink.gif
I also was only talking about Japan and the US, since that's what I assumed the topic meant? and not other countries, which of course have their own kinds of cartoons, entertainment and etc.

In no way am I an expert on all things related to Japan, but just wanted to point out that not all stereotypes about Japan/Japanese people are true. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

okay
but, then, do you think that Honda, Toyota, Matsuda, etc. are not Japanese, as they copied American automobiles?
if something is made on a regular basis in a given country, then to me, it belongs to that country, regardless of where the idea came from

I wasn't sure if maybe you were one of the many people who hate when white people only know Japan for their anime embarassedlaugh.gif
I didn't mean any offence

I saw that part. But I wasn't sure if you were talking about the origins of anime, or if you were trying to discredit anime in general, or just one specific style of anime.
My misunderstanding. icon_redface.gif

Unfortunately not everyone makes that distinction. There are (many) people out there who will use Bush and his foreign policies as a thinly veiled attempt to bash America and disguise their hatred for anything that's US-related.

I look at it this way: if people can't (or refuse to) understand that Bush and his colleagues do not necessarily represent every American or America-product, then they are a lost cause.

Bush does not represent every American
but look what his leadership is doing to the US economy
not to mention, now he's sending additional troops to Iraq

here is a little history for you homes...

Hmong people were known as Miao people who once had a thriving nation
in china...till the Han dynasty or so on....crushed and pushed the Hmong
aka the nomadic free people to SE asia......Hmong people then adapted
to laotation area and came to be a home for the new nomadic tribe
who finaly found there home at last....then century pass by.....till the vietnam
war....where the hmong fought by american side....till the sore loser
aka the american pulled out...leaving there allie the Hmong to die....evantully
thousand and thousand of hmong fled to thailand and the United States

and well here we are today embarassedlaugh.gif

Japan maybe the most westernized nation but it's certainly not ruled by whites.
ninja cowboy
if all you base your views on are....anime and jpop and godzilla movies......you need some help! true, you do see cultural things in anime but knowing the history of real life japan makes mores sense...there are no longer samurai in japan and bushido is slightly absorbed into the culture...get your head out of the pop culture and into the real japan. and stop talking about political things...you only show your weak mind...sorry about the bad grammar and spelling etc...but, i had to reply before i went to sleep... i'm an american living in japan and NO NOT ANY SPECIAL favors are given to me...i have to work my head off to get the least amount of anything..that's what makes the good things here so special.....not that i watch children shows on satellite or cable tv....just my thoughts..
