Hi!
Ok, this Sunday will be the first time I venture out to buy myself some makeup. I've actually never used makeup before and I'm not really familiar with all the brands out there. I'm not really sure which is good for me and which is not. Can you guys please help me out a bit by telling me which makeup brand(s) is the most "
safe" for your skin? I've heard so many people in family say that if you start using makeup then you'll have to use it for the rest of your life because once you stop using it, your skin would look horrible for the chemicals in makeups would ruin your skin. These warns sort of "haunt" me and I'm often afraid of putting powder on my face...but on the other hand there's this curiosity inside me about how makeup can (magically or not) change my face. So can you please give me some advises.

Edit:
When I did google, I found pages like these...but they all promote different brands...so really, I don't know which one to trust.

I hear BB cream works for a lot of people, but on others it has made their skin look actually WORSE. My mom uses Shills and it makes her skin really soft and stuff, it's a brand from Taiwan and provides minor coverage - it's definitely not something that's super thick but it does the trick for her.
I'm a cheapo and I use drug-store brand makeup lol. If you youtube: bubzbeauty or any other makeup/beauty people they're totally helpful.
Makeup will still clog your pores though...when I started I just used eyeliner, then proceeded to use things like coverup..but all in all to not ruin your skin you need a good skin care regime D: and MAKE SURE YOU WASH OFF THE MAKEUP like alll of itttt.. omgg I slept with my makeup on so many times in school cause I just kinda assed out and yeah T___T bad idea lol but yeah..since i used makeup im not really used to seeing myself without it (like the changes..) so im not sure if its the placebo effect sorta thing or if my skin is getting worse D:

I don't use BB cream, I feel like I hardly breathe with BB on my face.
But some of my friends love it. They use BB as a facial sunscreen (most of them comes with SPF.)
Korean brand BB are very famous in Thailand.

I know this isn't what you were asking for Xigon but since you are just starting with makeup I wanted to let you know what a guy's preferences are. Or at least just mine ;p . Anywayz the only thing I felt a girl ever needed was lip gloss. It tasted good when kissing the girl, make her lips look lucious and kissable and smelled nice. ONLY thing a girl needs if she's already decent looking.
Another option I like is eye liner. Depending on ur eye shape this can make them very pretty. I dont like mascara as it usually clumps and makes a girl look bleh...
So ya, just lip gloss and maybe eyeliner and ur good to go. You seem to have nice skin already so start with these 2 makeup options and go on from there when you gain more experience.

Hi Princess! Some make up brands I have used that is real good is Bare Mineral and Dior. You can go to Sephora and talk to one of the employee. Ask them what you should start off with. I think all you need is a little mascara and eyeliner. With eyeliner I preferred the L'oreal eye shadow. I used an eyeliner brush to put it on. For mascara, I preferred Deja Vu. It lengthens your lashes tremendously. Lip gloss are good at Mac. You can go to Mac and Sephora and have them try make up on you.

Hihi Gideon. You seem to know more about how to look good than I do even though you're a guy.

Well natural beauties don't need much help from makeup so its understandable that your venture into it, was much later in life than most girls. And ya, been with a few girls in my life so I know what I like and don't like on my girls. =D

Beautiful skin is far more important than the makeup, and you look like you have beautiful skin already.
I have sensitive combo skin and the below products works just fine for me:
FACE
MUFE powder/foundation
MUFE primer
EYES
NYX eyeshadows
LIPPIES
most have worked just fine
Anyhow, during the daytime, I find that sunscreen is a must.

So I think if you are going to use makeup buy mineral makeup...
maybe bare essentials...

Well that's why I said it would be good to talk to someone who knows about make up and discuss with you this issue and also doing some research online about the products you are interested in
Anyways Xigon I don't think you should use any foundation stuff when it looks like you have flawless skin, just put sunscreen :]
I stay away from foundation myself because of my skin type and I don't like the feeling of it

I wear makeup only when I go out. Feels useless to put on my face when I just have to go to work.
I'm probably much older than you but I'm still a makeup noob!
My skin reacts terribly to foundation and any form of powder makeup from drugstores, so I stick with department store brands and Skinfood (an Asian brand).
eyeliner: Mac, Bobbi Brown
mascara: Dior
eyeshadow: Mac, Urban Decay
blush: Skinfood
lips: random lip balms I get for free at various events. or Tarte lipgloss.

wearing makeup everyday is really bad for your skin. I never wear any makeup when I go to school...only when I go out with friends. I use Mac and Urban Decay for eye makeup (I love the Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencil), and Covergirl for foundation.

A small amount of make-up to enhance natural beauty on a gal is ok.
Just don't go over-the-top and layer it on with a trowel euch lol
