hello my friends,

Malaccan here. I'm currently on a short break in Rome and I can't help but notice the huge numbers of Filipinos there are both here and in the Vatican. I've been mistaken a few times for one (I'm Malay from Malaysia). It's cool to see our people travel far and wide, and finding filipinos here in the Eternal City is quite comforting for some reason. There are also many nuns and priests who are from the Philippines here. As for myself, my pilgrimage would be to Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia but I can certainly relate to the devout piety that our related race shoow to our two intertwined religion. Just a thought. beerchug.gif Salamat!!

I heard that alot of filipinos migrate to Rome. Im not suprised that there are filipinos in the vatican. I have seen alot of filipinos who choose to live their life as nuns and priests and live their life serving the Lord. beerchug.gif

Oooppss, I meant Mabuhay Fil-Am, not Salamat!

I actually met up with this girl from Pennsylvania yesterday on a walking tour of Rome. We got on quite well together ended up decidiing to head to the Teatro dell Opera to try our luck and see if there were any extra tickets for the night's show. Guess what, we were given two FREE tcikets to a play by Johann Strauss!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I just love the Romans! I doubt this would happen in London. It really made my day. Also spent the train ride from Paris to Rome reading Dan Brown's da Vinci code and Andels and Demons. How lame-o. icon_redface.gif You know, I'm proud to come from an ASEAN country, but similarly am glad to have the opportunity to live in the EU just now.

Sorry for my ignorance but who is Johann Strauss? biggrin.gif
malaccan
He's a classical composer from the 18th century (I think). One of the more famous pieces of his was the Blue Danube.

Sorry Fil-Am, running low on internet credit. Talk to you later.. Rome beckons!!

I'm not sure how reliable this may be but I have heard that Italy (Vatican is inside Rome, right?) has the most number of Pinoys in Europe...

Among the European countries Italy is a favorite destination among Filipinos working, residing. There is an estimated 200,000 Filipinos in Italy

man filipinos are all over the place. seriously the filipinos i think are one of the earliest people's to diaspora. i mean i read this family tree made by pure austrians that they date back their ancestry from a filipino man that fled the spanish to go to europe. first asians to settle the new world. we are the descendants of the greatest sea travelling people in the world.

the funny thing i fidn is that filipinos are more "if you're in rome do what they do in rome" kinda people. like i mean in us, you'd see china towns lil tokyo and in denver the far east corner filled with vietnamese and all that. but never did i see a little manila decked out full on like a china town others.
Ek-ek
5 million Filipinos in the US? That is way too many.............
